Ok, I'm jealous. I put in an order with MPC last week - the email I got said I had to wait until the 1st week of June.

I wonder which one I ordered is holding it up?
I ordered:
1 blk Australop
1 Buff Orp
1 Sussex (speckled)
2 EE
1 BR
1 Std Blue Cochin
hmm, must have been either the Sussex or the Cochin, I bet.
I can't wait!

on the week of may 19 i should be getting:

5 black stars (female)

5 Egyptian fayoumis (female

5 dark cornish (straight run)

1 silver phoenix (male)

5 cuckoo marans (straight run)

4 red stars (females)

1 packing peanut (they're free and come from the "rarest or rare" collection. straight run. thank you Murray McMurray!)

My PO called at 6:15 am and I flew to pick them up. Unfortunately 3 were DOA. When I got them home I thought I had 2 more dead. One was not moving and cold but then I noticed she was opening and closing her beak still. I just kept dropping sugar water in (she was swallowing it) and holding her close to the heat lamp. The other was on her side with her head bent back and pushing herself around - one leg wasn't working. I just kept putting drops of sugar water in their mouths and they kept improving. The second one's leg started working and she began straightening her head out and trying to stand up. Then the first one began trying to sit up but still kept its eyes closed. I just kept on with the sugar water in between dipping the other chicks beaks in the waterer. It took about 30 minutes of TLC but now both are up and running around just like the others.

I was sure that first one was a goner but it just goes to show, where there's life, there's hope.

Yeah!!!!!! for your babies, Good Job mommy. you did great, I had a similar experience with a black australorpe (emma lea) came to me with wry neck or what ever its called and i babied her and she is 6 weeks old now and doing great! Your right where there is life theres hope. Goodluck with you babies!! Sandy

We have a bunch of 3 week old EE's and RIR's in the garage brooder. Last year we sold 200 chicks on Craigs list. This year there's a bunch of people selling and we still have about 70 left from an original 100. We always seem to get in on the tail end.

We also have some peeping in the incubator. Nobody has pecked a hole yet. It's maddening hearing them in there but no holes in the eggs.

I have 10 pipped quail eggs this morning! Theyve had a rough incubation, hope that they make it, I did hear peeps this morning though.
Congrats on everyones chickies!! Sandy
