No, the world needs more chicks!

I have a very small order from Ideal coming in on Wednesday:

4 Barred Rock pullets
3 Buff Orpington pullets
3 Ameraucana pullets

I'm excited.

I have two groups of chicks from Ideal

1/7 hatch:

7 Ideal 236 Leghorn pullets
4 Easter Egger pullets
5 White Silkies (I think 2 boys and 3 girls)
1 RIR pullet, 1 RIR roo (2 of the 8 extras, sold the other 6)

1/28 hatch:

1 Ideal 236 Leghorn pullet (replacement chick)
3 Silver Laced Wyandotte pullets
2 Buff Orpington pullets, 3 roos (bought 2 then got 8 more for extras, ahh!)
4 RIR pullets

I LOVE MY CHICKIES!!

And I have 12 Blue/Black Silkie eggs and 12 Black Ameraucana eggs coming soon for my FIRST incubator experience... I am excited and nervous!

Just now hatched #14 for today.

So far 5 of my eggs have hatched.... four from a delaware/white rock/brahma coop and one from George's coop - George is an oeg and the mama is an australorp.

got many more eggs to go I hope more hatch than this, been having problems with the humidity, so I hooked up a room humidifier in there, it seemed to help a little.

Ideal is supposed to be sending me 15 BB red OEGBs this week. I ordered them a month ago but they said Feb 4th would be the first week they could complete my order. I was kind of relieved because the week I was supposed to get them dropped in the teens due to a surprise cold front. I hope they send me lots of warmers just in case it gets cold again.

I haven't ordered new chicks yet. Currently I have RIR's. I think I would like to order some different breed(s), but haven't decided what to order. I am going to build a new coop in the spring and I'm still working on the coop design and want to have the new coop built before I order any new chicks. I definitely want good layers. A couple of my older hens pick on my younger ones pretty aggressively. I wonder if I should get a breed that will be similar in size when full grown.

This weekend, I hatched:

5 out of 8 shipped RIR eggs for a friend. Not bad for shipped eggs.
9 out of 10 barnyard mix eggs for my father-in-law.

I will probably set a new batch of eggs today. I need a few more hens.

In April I'm placing a order with both Ideal and Cackle. I have got to have some of those blue and lemon colored bantam oeg from Ideal!!! Cackle has some Splash bantam cochins and some blue polish that I'm drooling over, plus My grandma want some welsummers from them.
