My first chick hatched today and I have 3 broodies sitting on about 30 more. Hopefully Hatching out within the next 2 weeks

She/he is a golden laced wyandotte, partridge cochin cross.

Looks just like the GLW but with fuzzy legs.

Doing well, I can't wait for some company to join in the brooder.

When I hatched my eggs, my heighboor told me that they were silver laced polish BUT they came out Buff orpingtons.

but I still love Buff Orpingtons

I'd lose it and start throwing a fit! I shouldn't be looking forward to these as much as usual, considering that the fewer the chicks, the more I may lose, but I still can't wait.

I want buff orps and have heard that the dispositions on those big tanks are hysterical. Just not enough room! We have way too many chickens for our coop to handle and everyone is cramped together as it is.

I've now made a decision that if the Marans are out, BOs are in!

Sad, because I kind of wanted some more Turkens, too, but I can't always win.

We pre-ordered our new batch of chicks at the local mom-n-pop feed store last weekend. I asked for more of what we have already - buff orps, RI reds, barred rocks, and EEs, plus they're going to see if they can get some silkies. We should have 12+ babies on their way in a few weeks!

pixiechic, Those breeds where the first ones I got when I order for my first time at a hatchery. They are pretty good egg layers.

DaggerD, it looks like you like Wyandottes. I was going to get some Ideal, some silver laced wyandottes (pullets) but I had a lot of chicks hatched (35) plus my sister chicks from Ideal (50) we couldn't get more. Luvchikies said that if she sells the Ideal 236 chicks we could get some!
