Post Phoenix Pics Please

You're welcome. Comb is a huge giveaway in Phoenix. Feathering is very very similar until about 2-3 months old(at least most of mine were) but I watched the comb and by 3-4 weeks I was able to sex them. I occasionally got the one rooster with a tiny comb or hen with larger comb but other than that it was good way to sex them.

Thanks. I always look at comb. I have noticed that the head stripe is slightly different on 2 than on the other 3 so just out of curiosity, I am watching to see how they sex out to see if there is a link. The SG Dorkings will sex that way so I am curious if there is any kind of similarity with the Phoenix.

It's really interesting to me, having SG Dorkings and the Silver Phoenix. Their colorings are more or less identical but the birds themselves are so different. I have one chick that is a cross to I am watching it very closely. If it were full Dorking I would say girl based on strip but with the mix, don't know if it is going to work or not. She is s slightly lighter color from the full phoenix but striped the same otherwise. She has been larger even since hatch. She has 4 toes like the Phoenix but yellow legs like the dorks have white.

Just a curiosity. I'm calling her Easter since that was when they started hatching, and I can ID her better than the others.

My son has tried for 3 years to get a male silver pheonix but something always happens to his roo.. Last year it was a hawk :(. But he just hatched his first ever Phoenix egg today :) :) :). Mom is silver Phoenix and dad is silver laced wayndotte . Has anyone ever had that mix??

I have a silver phoenix X Silver Dorking cross. I am waiting to see how he grows out. If he still wants a Phoenix boy, I may have a couple growing out. They are 4 weeks now and I think I have 2 males in the mix that are pure Phoenix. PM me if you are interested.

Sure looks like it's a Phoenix to me

Thank you. Today though I noticed little red/Cooper feathers growing around his shoulders and top of the head.
I saw colorful old English game roosters that look like him as chicks but he has green legs like Phoenix.
He came from Mcmurray as the surprise chick and it looks like they don't have golden phoenix.
Could he be something else?
