Large phoenix range from 3-5 pounds. I do have a line that can push 8 pounds. Bantams are bantams 1.5- 2 pounds. About the same as polish . They are not micro bantams like the true bantam breeds are.

Yep, figured I'd pass that along to ya. The males of the 2 are identical after they mature. So you'll need to mark the chicks when they hatch so you can keep them sorted. Chipmunk chicks are bb red of course and the whitish chicks are the wheaten

I just have the one pair, and Mr Ed... Lost the other golden girls and the bbr girl to mareks... Was horrid. That's why I won't take live birds now unless they are vaccinated. It was the worst experience... Devastating. Oh, and I have my yokos. One white girl, she's looking nice, almost lost her too, but she pulled through with the vaccination, and Red devil.

wow that is not good. all my birds are vaccinated for wet pox. are your yokes show quality?

I have absolutely no idea. They were the only two to hatch from the shipped eggs. In fact they were the only two that developed. I'll run down to the garage and get some pics of Red Devil and the pullet. She's got the longer tail feathers. She's all white.

Current as of today pic of Blue Boy and Mr. Ed... Mr. Ed is with one of his ladies, and in the other with two of his ladies. The black one is a silkie/banty cochin cross. She's the very devil too.

Novaman-beautiful birds. Is there a good place, especially if in mi, to get phoenix? What is their general temperament and I have 1 RIR Roo, would they probably get along or not a chance?

Well in my experience they are very placid birds but they were partly breed in japan for fighting at ceremonies so the roosters can be rather aggressive, but once a pecking order is sorted out they normally are ok

I agree with the non aggressive thing. They all are fairly gentle and get along well with others. I keep multiple males in most all my pens.

However on the history part, they were never bred for fighting. Always been an ornamental breed. Also they never came from japan . The breed was created largely in Europe and to a lesser degree in the USA . Onagadori imported to Europe from japan were used over various other breeds and thus the phoenix came to be.
