Post Phoenix Pics Please

Question for those of you with older birds. Does breast color darken with first molt? Our girls have more of a buff color, I'm wondering if it will darken as the get older?

I am hopeing to get some next spring I have a lot of barred going on now was thinking of barred flytie cross from boggy to integrate in my project of my mix I like the hackle and long tail my current mix is doing great have to see how f2 is but from what I got I like

@OR4-hmom I think it lightens with age. I've read that there was a silver hen that was over 10 years old and on her Las molt she had turned nearly full white. She was supposed to molt again close to the time she passed. Person who owned it thought if it would have been fully white if she molted.

Hello all,

I am posting to subscribe. We just hatched 9 Silver Phoenix chicks. We are looking forward to learning more about the breed and watching them grow out.

Here is a pic of some with their hatchmates.

You have come to the right place @Puddin Fluff this is a great thread for learning. Welcome and enjoy your birds!:)

Thanks! Now that they are hatched, I am anxious to learn their genders. Are there any early clues with this breed to look for? We won't be keeping them all and I certainly want to keep at least a trio. We run a mixed hobby flock for fun and the kids show in the local county fair but nothing bigger. All breed advice is welcome.:D
