the pics you have posted a female, male, female
that first pic is showing a slight cockerel feathered hen, we taked about that a few post back. Those make excellent breeder stock for great males, ie, the better the tail on the female, usually the better looking the male offspring will look.
as for the cock bird, he's a silver birchen, where the hens are silver duckwing. When bred together, you will just get 50% of each color.
His tail is horrible, but that's damage, not a quality issue. Let him molt out again and see what he ends up like. Most likely he either got a bad case of mites, or was feather picked while they were in blood feather ( a common thing with phoenix).
I dont like his comb as far as being show quality, and the motled breast would cause trouble for you too where that's concerned. That and birchen is a recognized color too.
As for sexing phoenix, once you get familiar with the breed, it's pretty easy by a couple weeks old. The males comb will be a bit bigger by then, By 3- 4 weeks old, the PULLETS will be getting long tails. In all cases, regardless of when it happens, once they start to feather up, the pullets feather faster and will always have a longer tail the first little bit than the males. After a couple weeks, the males obviously will pass them , but the hens feather the fastest as chicks.
Hope that helps.
and Amanda,
yes that was another beautiful painting. Gonna have to get you to do me one one of these days
