Post Phoenix Pics Please

This is my Roo. He looks just like a silver phoenix. An idea what other bantam breeds look just like them but without the tails????? He is almost a year old.

He is silver, but not a phoenix. Looks to be old english bantam.. has pearl legs not slate blue, red earlobes not white, upward tail angle, among other differences.. He is just the same color as a silver phoenix.. But looks to be silver duckwing old english game to me..

Are Pheonix's like a none aggressive form of the American Game?

No, they are not games.. They are slate legged, with white earlobes, a totally different stance, are smaller in body type and not as hard muscled as American Game.. They also have a different tail angle and various feather traits associated with the tail and saddles that are not typical to games. Games tend to be hard feathered, not soft like the phoenix..These are just a few of the differences, but there are definitely differences...

We got a batch of random mutt chicks dropped off at work a couple months back. It was one of those cases where a lady brought them in for a friend kind of deal. I watched them for awhile and wanted some silver pullets to use in our sexlinked EE pen so I got a couple. One was weak and died and the other is growing nicely. So far, she is a gorgeous blue silver pullet with a pea comb, yellow legs, and a very long tail. Any ideas on what could be in her ancestry? I will try to get a pic before too long, but figured since she is looking like a longtail (longer than my pure phoenix of the same age) someone might have an idea...

Thanks! Funny I do have a cream hen with the blue/slate legs. Cant figure out where she got those from. The joys of barn yard chickens you never know what is going to pop out for traits!!

This guy looks like a Silver Duckwing OEG Bantam to me :S
He does not look like a phoenix . . . at all

Hey guys! I have been raising Phoenixes for about 2 years. When I first got them as chicks , the man told me they were Golden Phoenixes.
They have been really great birds, and they are very beautiful. Our state fair is coming and and I really would like to enter them in our poultry competition. I wanted to ask around on BYC and see if they are good, quality birds and if I have a chance of winning anything.
Do they look like purebred golden phoenixes to you all?


Here is a front view of one of the roosters. His feathers may look a bit ratty because they are molting and free range. I definitely will be keeping them in separate coops a few weeks before the show to prepare them.

oh no, pics are always welcome.
If you plan to show them you certainly need to get him off the ground, that kills those tails, at least in a covered pen with a good thick bedding, by himslef helps for shows too.
They look decent, hard to tell in molt feather wise. Should do ok at a fair though.
He is not what I would call a gold duckwing though, the hen looks to be a bb red ( need a good shot of her hackle to tell) it will be blonde looking if she's a gold. The males is kinda an unusual color, looks almost half bb red and half gold. His main body looks bb red but his hackle will be a nice darker red, where it's half gold.
For a gold, it should be that nice light color at the bottom, all the way, his saddles should be about that color too. I'm betting they are bb reds that came from a bb red to gold mating. As chicks they are very hard to tell apart.

for a gold duckwing this is what you should be looking for color wise, never mind the barring on him that's extra, this is just the basic color for them

I was out today messing around the barns and thought I'd attempt to get a couple pics of the phoenix since we turned them loose. Not the best pics in the world (crummy cell phone camera) but they get the point across. The first pic is of a few of the silver pullets drinking from a leak in the hose. The one in the front has spurs and some nice pointed feathers coming in.
The second pic is of most of the flock of this years birds, there are a couple pullets and a cockerel that were behind me but you get the idea. The cockerels tails are finally coming in now that the sumatras have been separated into other pens. I have fair coming up next week so I'll snap some pics of them in the show cages
