Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Hey guys were would be the best place, not including this site, to sell my lemon cuckoo roos on-line for those of you who have tried it? I am growing a nice collection of these fine specimen. Has e-bay worked out for anyone? Go ahead and PM me the links that would be great. :)

E-bay will allow you to sell the fertilized eggs, but not "live" animals. I have friends here (Oregon) trying to sell their flock of Lemon Cuckoos, and they have posted on various Facebook pages and Craig's List. I hope this helps!

A study in white.

have another from german site and a freind who is helping me out....I can read it but dont feel like translating whole thing..excellent reading from top german breeders , judge the white exactly as the black ..that was just a tid bit of what it said..starting with no white ear lobes

also a discussion on how somone quite famous bred black orp under jubilee and spangled came out of that..

Most americans never got the fever for white orpingtons, just another white chicken to them, still is..only a handful of people actually want them..

Translated for those who breed blue orpington. ect...

[FONT=Times New Roman,Georgia,Times]1984 awakened the blue-lined my attention and kept it moving into my stables.
The blue-lined Orpington are one of the oldest color varieties. They were already known in the last century where the breeder Partington lays the foundation of the blue-lined colors shock. For the first time in the 20th century blue Orpington appeared on a German show in 1912.
An uptrend began. The First World War and its consequences suffered not only the breeding of blue-lined colors shock significant setbacks, and it took a long time to see through blue Orpington again in considerable quality and quantity were. At that time there were German breeders, such as Gerlach Bleicherode who took the blue color impact as a proper breeding of black Orpington and blue long-Chan again schufen.Nach the Second World War to breeders like to Veltheim, Sergiet and George the color shock and did an exemplary construction work.In the other part of Germany it was Diesterwegstraße, who dealt in this time with blue-lined Orpington. Even today, the undisputed blue plumage color in chickens something glorious. In the blue Orpington want to the color of the Andalusian chickens. Basic color: pure pigeon blue, each feather with a darker rim. Neck and hackles are the cock blue black, the tail is blue.
The beak appears dunkellhornfarbig that runs slate blue eyes and dark brown, darker than the cock with the hen.
For the uninitiated, it should be noted that this blue color is always spalterbig. In the pairing of 1, 0 blue 0, 1 blue drop only 50 percent blue chicks, the rest is divided into 25 percent black chick and 25 percent gray white chick. About 90 percent blue chick brings the mating of 1, 0 gray-white with 0, 1 black, and it would be theoretically actually 100 percent. Requirement is that the animal comes from Blue black parents (because of the pure blue color). Very good results can also be reached by mating of 1, 0 black blue with 0, 1, but this can not be repeated indefinitely, otherwise the blue is too dark and the base color to mossy.
Also, you can gray white anpaaren the wrong colors again. However, always under the attention that the animals are not too bright. After a white plumage is always the danger signal number 1! You have to be careful even with the addition of black Orpington breed of black.
I crossed a few years ago a beautiful black hen shape, a beautiful blue cock. All pups were still in the F3 generation schmutzigblau (dirty ground color). Only in the F4 generation of the lovely blue plumage color was restored.
Should you react if the animals are too bright or dark. Here it is then, to create a balance. Can be seen from these figures that in the breeding of blue Orpington chicks without descent control and marking no exact construction work can be done. Also one can find quite often that the animals fade by changing weather in late autumn. The best met by breeding hens with a rich dark blue and blue Halsbehang breeding cocks have no rust in autumn during the moult.
You have to watch the whole breed year round and their changes festhalten.Inspiriert writing of the animals from Rastatt Arthur Schmidt began in 1984 with 15 breeding hatching his breeding animals. That this step had such consequences, then I was certainly not aware of.
Then the end of the 80 years he saw it around the farm stand of blue-lined colors shock not look good. In order to improve this I moved in the following year more than 200 years of breeding chicks. Targeted introgression of black Orpington Australorp blue Andalusians and demanded a lot of patience. The shape was strengthened by targeted black introgression and Consistent selection in subsequent years. But what the beautiful powder blue ground color, required a lot of patience. If einstellten already beautiful show success, I was nowhere near the target. To speak of it, you can, if you are on the main special exhibitions in 1997 in Mühlbach, 1998 Essen 1999 in Walldorf, Germany, and in 2000, when I performed the main special show in Ispringen itself., The animals Look at these "pearls in blue" were shown, all of which were also awarded the highest grade VF, and the honor band.
For me personally, the best animals that have been shown since 1985 on the occasion of Golden Victory ring in Germany, were 0, 1 on the main special exhibition in 1998 in Essen Fine, Federal Medal and the 0, 1 with Excellent honor band on the main special exhibition in 2000 in Ispringen, in the last exhibition season 3 shows the highest score won (photos below picture). In addition to all the awards and achievements of recent years, especially 7 reward the German champion breeder diligence. It's nice when the breeding work is crowned by the joy and splendor of new successful blue copies and Althenne, which was named on the European show in Leipzig in 2006 with the highest mark for the European champion. There currently is grown only in blue color lined shock, and not for show, but on a small scale to maintain the color shock.
. Thereby, I leave no time for hatching eggs, chicks or young animals

The Lucasville Ohio show is this weekend. I can not go, but for those who are close, this maybe the biggest show of the season in these parts of the country. I am having Doug take 2 of my spare White Orp cockerels to give to a good fellow White breeder Jerry Powell to give him some needed vigor to add to his stellar line of Whites at Lucasville.
I got this White Orp hen from Jerry 3 years ago at our Indiana State Fair poultry Show. Jerry is a good guy. We need as many quality White Orp breeders that are out there willing to spend time and money to raise great Whites. Jerry's line would die off unless he gets some new blood. I am giving him these cockerels. One is from the White Wyandotte pullet from last year the other cockerel is from Joyce's Buff Sports. Both have Harry's huge White cock as their daddy. Their definitely generation one in quality. I expect to up the quality this season as I am taking Harry's cock back to 10 of his daughters. And amazingly Harry's cock has kept 9 of the 10 girls with him laying fertile eggs. Whatta great boy he is. I am also taking one of the 2 White Orp cockerels from last season who is from the Wyandotte hen to my 2 Pontious White pullets, and one of the 2 girls from the fella up north line of Whites. I hatched out 45 chicks so far. Many many more to hatch soon. Just loaded up 4 dozen more eggs last nite in the incubator.

Jerry's girl is a knock out. I am more then happy to help Jerry. I also promised him a decent trio of my White chicks for him to pick up at this year's State Fair. Still too cold and the chicks are too young to risk sending them with Doug to Jerry for this weekends big show.

I think these boys will help out Jerry.

This White would have been culled, so I gave him to Jerry as well for back up. He is from the White Wyandotte hen. He has been picked on by his 2 bigger brothers. So his tail is not as nice as it should be. Get him to himself and I am sure he will be worth keeping as a back up.
Bill glad to see you are back to posting pictures.

Bama,
I hatched some black chicks from your line and Joy's and they are just so large. Both your birds are consistant when in comes to size and quality. Tubby Jr produced some Lavenders from with your blood line in them and waiting to see what they grow out to look like only thing is they are the darker lavender not the real light color I prefer but that is what you get when you use blacks over lavenders.

NOTE: These are just comments this is not a sale pitch that you see so often. I sell very few birds to anyone. I do give them away occassionally.
