Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

My BO is getting use to me but is being quite mean
Last night i went see her and she was ok
Then this morning I went to see her and I fed her some food and she purposefully bite me not just bite she twisted my skin and pulled and pinched even though there was a big bit on my hand she still bite me some times she would completely miss the food and just bite me instead
Then I went to see her tonight and she was being nice taking only the food and not biting me
Why is she doing this
I got her when she was 14 weeks and she is being really hard to tame when BO are soppost to be easy to tame I tryed taming her with treats but that just made her flighty spoilt as well as mean so I stopped doing that although I am always the one bringing them food and I always feed her by hand
HELP Please all I want is a nice chicken who is tame and likes cuddles
My last hen I got was a lot older than my BO when I got her about 2 years maybe 4 years but see died of some illness not sure what and she was lovely
ahhh Ember RIP
Hatchery Buff Orps can be quite mean. It is not normal for the breed, but the hatcheries have crossed them with other breeds. Orps from a breeder, who breeds to the SOP, are generally very gentle. I certainly will not breed a mean flighty Buff.

You will have to explain to this girl that you are the mother, and she is the chicken. Squish her down with your palm on her back, if she gets aggressive, and hold her there for a minute or 2. If she comes back at you; do it again until she gives up.

Daisy's baby is nicely feathered out for winter! I hope she stays with it through winter though because theres Buzzards around here and the chick would be an easy target without its mother.

Have also ordered the girls a treadle feeder to stop the staying out late looking for food because thats how the 3 last year died, they went out too far and didnt set off back until dark.

Good idea Johnn ! That will keep the flock closer to home, and also keep them in better condition when it's really cold and wet. They need to go to roost with really full tummies then.
