I learned my lesson from last spring when I thought i had a LAV colored bird and said I thought it was a Lav. I couldn't swing a dead cat with out hittin someone who wasn't offended because I had made something outta of my own birds. Here I am just preventing the same thing by not saying my birds are Chocs. IF I do get something Brown I'll let everyone else call them what they want. I see Brown in my birds plumage. IF I am lucky by taking an already diluted Black to these I hope to make something that resembles a Choc bird.
Here is another cool link to read IF you have an hour or two

I find this fun NAVA. I wish you luck. Because no one will say how they did it IF they do make one from scratch which I think defeats the purpose of sites like these.

It does take time. But I find it more fun to figure out the "HOWS" in these projects and not the "WHERE" I can buy one. About 6 months ago I had some pressure put on me to be the one who bring in all these different varieties. I did not bite. And glad I did not. I knew others would. But here we're making an ALL AMERICAN bird. And that is what being an AMERICAN is all about.

I know it takes time but it's so exiting to wait and see the next generation, and knowing that you are getting closer and closer even if it takes 10 years
just the tough of knowing that you did it. FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!

I am sure someone has LF Choc Orps here already. But they still have to make em meet our APA Standards. And in large fowl. Alot of these new varieties are far from meeting any standard anywhere. And to do it yourself is what makes it fun. Without leaving my property or buying someone else's project. Your right it is exciting!

The tail angle is the only thing I see that may be in question. They have a nice even color. Rich Buff color is more desired, but more important is an even color, which they have.
Here is an example of a very nice Buff I bought at a show which illustrates the proper tail angle and length and color. This is a Doug Buff Orp cock. He is the best in the Midwest. So this is a good example to compare too. All he may need is a fuller front breast which is in his genetics. But the color and nice tail is very hard to come by. And I see no problem with yours.

He is gorgeous! I have never shown before but am interested in it. What do you think of my girl in the front? I know it isn't a very good photo of her full body but can you give me an opinion just from what you can see?

I can get a better picture of her soon if that would give me a better opinion.
