Are going to bring any of them to Crossroads? So far they look nice!
Not sure i'll be able to make it. work and life have been grinding me down pretty good lately, no end in sight. I'm not sure what to think on the light blues, they are from a different breeder, and have a slightly tighter feather to them, i worry they are ex hatchery lines, but i guess time will tell. they are actually a wee bit older then the rest i think, would have to look back at records.

Sib they all look pretty nice. Time will tell how well they turn out. Buffs looks great. I can see I wish I had a couple of them girls. Very nice!!
Syble, this is from someone who barely knows a chicken from a pheasant, but those birds are gorgeous! They look like sun and moon chickens together like that, the light golden and silvery gray...
I have a question that I thought best to post here. I am going to be building my coop and run here in a little while, and I live on a pretty big city yard with a 4' fence on two sides and a 7' fence on the other two. I have my heart pretty well set on Orpingtons, but I'm wondering if they really, truly don't fly. Would I be silly to let them free range when I'm out there with them?
HoneyTree you don't have to worry about 6 foot fences of higher. 4 feet though they can hop on and clear IF they desire.
I just sold a trio of Buffs to a fellow BYCer. The brother & sister of this girl.
Here is a pic of one of my birds, BUT not from my stock, here is "LiL TJ".
I posted him because I am proud for the original Lavender guru, who made this Lavender craze possible and fellow BYCer breeder I got him from. He is looking like a HAUS!!!
A true Lav split and too nice to cull!

We have to leave for a 4H leaders seminar at 6:30 AM in the morning, so I went out to top off all the feeders. Found two old Buff Orpington hens roosting on a 4' fence. These are not little girls, but full size Exhibition Quality fat old girls! They never fly out of their pen, but roost often on the fence. You either want to go 6'+ or build a coop with a top. You might consider one similiar to the one we built for Buffbeauty. Photos of our coops are on our BYC pages https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=47716-jims-large-backyard-coop . We built the coop six feet tall with a roof on the entire top.
You just can't trust these huge, athletic, majestic, Golden Orpingtons to a fence of any size.

I like Buffs. Their one of the toughest varieties to have because the color seems to fade. Keep them out of the direct sunlite and they look nice enough to go to a show and enjoy the fun. I have my better one in under some pine trees and cedar trees out behind my pole barn. And another pen I have under some Oaks and Walnut trees. Hard to say with out seeing the body of the male, but the girl looks like she is very nice.
