I like Buffs. Their one of the toughest varieties to have because the color seems to fade. Keep them out of the direct sunlite and they look nice enough to go to a show and enjoy the fun. I have my better one in under some pine trees and cedar trees out behind my pole barn. And another pen I have under some Oaks and Walnut trees. Hard to say with out seeing the body of the male, but the girl looks like she is very nice.

Here is the full body pic of my buff girl:

Nice type and color! IF anything to improve on would be lower profile comb and a more level tail. The rest looks great. Both those traits can be easy fixed in proper selective culling of offspring. You have a great start!

Great news, girl #3 was found! Granted it was just as a rather large storm was hitting, but neighbors called me over to say they found one of my chickens as the storm was hitting so there 4 of us are trying to coax a frightened young pullet (that had been out for 2 or 3 days) out of a privet hedge big enough to hide a dump truck... Sure enough she bolted out one side into the ditch where i gave a quick pursuit (in wast high weeds of gawd knows what!) to get the grab. Did i mention this was like the 1 moment i wore short?! Still itchy!!! But shes back in the flock safe and sound, a bit lighter for her journey though, and a few feathers short. hopefully she wont stray far from the barn ever again lol.
Just had to share!

Do you mean a "smaller" comb?? Is that mentioned in the SOP?? I don't have the SOP so wondered exactly what you meant by that and also I assume you don't want a "perky" tail sticky up...more straight out?? So...first you look for overall size and body composition and then zero in on the combs and tail, etc. I remember you aim for 5 or 6 points on comb? I won't ever show but would like to raise good quality birds for breeding and my own pleasure.

This English/American Orpington rooster is 16 weeks old. He is WAY larger than the other splash roo from same flock. I would really like some pointers on what to "improve" in breeding with him. I don't think he has a cut away chest as some say is bad....tail seems small?? Input is greatly appreciated...good or bad. Thanks my friends.
