Jeremy, My 7 month old chicks from Bamachicken are laying just about everyday now. And no I dont have lights on them. Guess I will be firing up the incubator sooner than I thought. Will start checking fertility soon. I am so excited. Its awesome to have these 100% English birds. I love them so much.

What color birds do you have from Julie? I'm looking to add some Black to my line, I only hatched Blue and Splash chicks this season.​

beat me too it! I went out to the barn to double check mine so i didn't make a fool of myself lol, but then got distracted haha. Their soles of their feet should be pinkish... orps have white skin, not yellow (thats more of a rock or wyandotte trait)

Yup, not desirable at all for an Orpington. They should have white skin and white/pink soles of their feet.

I would contact them about that. I have never seen yellow skin in any of the ones I have hatched. Very strange!

Im guessing theyre rocks, the splash looks like it has yellow too.

You should ask the breeder you got them from if they have used anything in their breeding pen like Rocks or Wyandottes.

If I'm shipping a LF orp rooster, what size box? The single stall just doesn't look big enough??!!

Took two days to ship a pair of bantams from Arkansas to Colorado a few months ago. With Christmas coming it may take longer. USPS regulation require they ship via Express Mail.

When we are shipping, we have the buyer buy the box and ship the box to us. Then we only have the shipping to consider. You will need to know the weight of the bird. using a bath scale, zero the scale with a carry tote etc on it empty. Then weigh the carrier with the bird. Ad about 5# for shavings and the fruit. That should give you the best estimate on weight. Temps are perfect for shipping at present. No too cold and no extreem heat.
