Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

This is Mad Max. He was allowed to spend some time with two of the girls yesterday. I was very proud of him. He's finally growing a tail! I am thinking of using him for test hatches this spring.

You better hope he don't get mad, as big as he is, he would put a knot on your leg. But a very good looking guy. Love thar Golden Laced color.

Don, I have a scar on my leg from a rooster attack when I was eight. Hospital visit and everything. This flock is my first experience since that nightmare. It was a bit nerve wracking when I was in the boy's pen when there were 9 of them. But, the most they ever did was peck each other to be the one to sit in my lap! It's a funny sight to see Mad Max in my lap.

I don't believe I've posted on here before, but was taking some pics of my babies this morn..

Oh, and Dragonlady, thank you for the reminder, Broody Hens are INVALUABLE. DS just this morning was talking about culling some non-layers..I had to remind him that some of those girls are just the best broodys ever!

Absolutely! My great broody girl escaped the axe for that very reason. I was about ready then she went broody, as if on cue. I'd never let her hatch, so this time I did. WHEW am I ever glad I did! I don't have that many, and at the time only around 6 total. But this girl is going to live out all her days here even if she never lays again.

As a side note, letting her do that and raise a family settled her down. She quit all the annoying things that she was about to leave here for. She's an odd one but a real asset.
