Nice looking blk rooster.

Everybody uses the old plastic bubket to guage the size ..they get to be very big birds..Mine are as big as the english inports..here are a few pics , one of a 4 1/2 month old next to a bucket and another of him with english blue.

Oh, my! he was a huge baby, who became a big handsome boy! Since I am going through raising baby Orps., for the fist time in my life, had no idea they would be such a large size at the very young age of 4 1/2 mos. I think we better get their grow-out run sooner than we thought we need it..

Need a like button for that photo.
Awww! such a sweet comment; thank you!

LOL!!! Is that a rooster? ....that is funny...dad is helping out. It would be great subject for a painting ..or a greeting card.
Yes, he is a rooster. Very good idea to paint it, thank you for the idea! I love his sweet expression, and how puffed up to keep the babies safe and warm.

OH I love it !!!

What a sweet Roo Daddy!!!

I have had one that loved getting in the nest box with one of his girls repeatedly too...then he would stay sometimes on the egg even though the hen left for a drink etc...
Thank you! So nice and lucky that you did have the fortune of experiencing an adorable rooster like him. I wish I've had... If I had a rooster like him, I would make sure to never leave him without babies : )

Love this boy !
Thank you! Recently, I saw photos of Orps. from your bloodlines; simply stunning! These babies reminded me of your deep golden birds.

Thank you! The rooster and the photo belongs to a dear friend who lives in another country. She is not member of BYC., but, will certainly relate your suggestion.

That's what gets me most about the picture, all the little legs pushing to get under there. So adorable!

Well today i went to the hens and all the hens were there apart from Bella who was missing, i then turned to find a patch of orpington feathers and thaught "great, shes gonna be dead" then i went to the big shed, she wasnt there, went to the little shed to find this (if your wondering why the box has so much poo in its because Bella, her mother and her brother perch around it, although that dosent really matter because i cleaned them out today anyways):

But then she realised i had treats and left the nest and nothing was there, she then went and stood in the field for a while and walker away and i found this:

And i was so pleased with her, then later on not only did she lay her first egg, she was mated for the first time and she crapped her self. When i say crapped her self im being serious, Her brother jamp on her and she squaked and then had a poo :/

Heres Bellas mother looking pleased with her self after doing this to Babs! (i give the mother a peck back!, Babs was happily sleeping!)
