Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

I had my first ever incubator hatch.

I set 42 eggs, pulled 19 and put 23 in lock down. Out of the 23 in lock down I had 21 to hatch: 14 EE, 2 OE and 6 LF BBS Orps. This is my first time so I think I have 3 black and 3 blue. I will try again later for more Orps because even though I checked fertility before I started saving eggs they were the majority of the ones that didn't develop.

I will try to get better pics of these and the buffs.

Here is the only pic of the buffs (already time for a bigger brooder)

Cute babies ! Are you trimming your Orps ?

Thank you. I have only trimmed to get the poop mess cleaned off them when it gets bad. I know a lot of people trim and I may try it before I try to hatch anymore. My Orps are young and this was just a test hatch.

Angie, looks good. Buffs looks like they like there new home. If you aren't careful you will be going to feed store every other day!!!

Thanks Don. The Buffs have settled in nicely. As soon as I get PS out of my small medic/brooder house they are going out there. She goes to get her stitches out tomorrow so hopefully they will get moved this weekend.

And yes the feed store just think they know my face! I am thinking at least half of the BBS Orps will be culled and maybe I will get a couple of decent pullets out of these chicks.

Congrats on your new chicks..its going to be a fun summer watching those grow..

Sweet chubby babies.

Thank you. They are doing great so far. I swear I think I have already spotted a cockerel. He saw me looking in the brooder and made a cockerel sound. I may be nuts but I marked him with a permanent marker on the side & bottom of one of his feet just to follow him and see if I am right.
