Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Hey Don, nice of ya to pop in and set the record strait. I know there are alot of newbies to the Orp world who would love to attend even if they do not enter. I would hate to have people making plans for this Dec only to find out they were going by bad info. I had a blast at Crossroads. I wished more BYCers would have gone to Crossroads to see what real APA Orps look like. Most all of the best breeders do not frequent this site. So, many would not know what our APA EXHIBITION Buffs really look like.
FYI Dragon I have LARGE FOWL ORPS. I have no intention to drive to Knoxville this coming Dec for a Bantam Orp meet. So are you going to enter any of your Orps as bantams at the ABA NATIONAL meet in Knoxville? lol

I'm sure they will have a APA Meet. Won't be a national, but either district, state or special. There will be alot of large birds there along with water fowl and turkeys.
Bill,
If you will check my show record, you will find that I am no" Newbie" to the Poultry Show World. I was very successful in Silver Laced Wyandotte Large Fowl, and later in Bantams, where the competition really is.Much more fun to beat 200 birds than 20 for just the breed. I do not appreciate your condesending attitude.I know how tough the competition will be in LF at Knoxville, and I realize you cannot, as you have never been there. Perhaps you should look up my show record. I still know what a winning bird looks like.

Funny you should mention the motel issue in Knoxville. I grew up in and around Knoxville and if the show is going to be at the TVA fairgrounds then yes you need to be very careful where you book your stay. I would suggest Strawberry Plains Pke area (its exit 398 off of I-40). Its a nice area very close to the fair grounds with several motels and 6-10 restaurants ranging from nice sit down to fast food. I would not stay in Downtown Knoxville (the old city part) but these are just my opinions.
I'm still trying to find out where the host motel is....not that that is always a good thing. In years of showing , I have stayed in some duzzies ! Thanks for the heads up about downtown Knoxville. It has gotten worse I understand.

KGB my TiTuS was a Speedway gas station find. He was just laying on his side with litterally hundreds of people walkin by him and not giving him any time. So, I asked if he was someone's. He turned out to be a very friendly stray. I love black cats.
That sounds wonderful Dragon. And I can name a half dozen ladies on this thread who are "newbies" to the Orp world. I consider them as part of the "alot" I was talking about. You have told us many time your poultry history. And you should be very proud of who you are. The way you were talking about this show was definitely giving me the impression you were saying this year's Knoxville Show was the Orp Natl's. As OSUMAN pointed out next year it will be the Orp Natl's. I had to GOOGLE to make sure Jon was correct. The very 1st link brought up the UOC Forum's page that I copied what Don said.
As I have mentioned as well I will attend the Connorsville Indiana Show the first week of Dec. That is one of the close to home shows I enjoy So, I will not be attending the Knoxville Show this year.

Budah was an orphan his mom and litter were sucked into a lumber silo. He was the only survivor! Its funny you mention it being the Orps nationals. Thats awesome!!! I just made a post about my husband's grandpa bringing home a dozen fuzzy baby orps! Looks like I am going to be an orp mom, cat, and dog mom hahaha

You are welcome. We used to have a nice KOA campground at exit 407 off I-40 but its long gone. I am sure there are others close because the fair grounds are on the east side of Knoxville and the biggest tourist attraction areas are Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg (which includes Dollywood) and all these are accessed from exit 407. In other words the fairgrounds in Knoxville are located off exits 392 & 394 so it would be 15 miles or so to exit 407.

ETA: sorry this read like Dollywood is in Gatlinburg but its in Pigeon Forge.

Believe it or not...I knew it was in pigeon forge..stayed there long time ago when moving to colorado..and on way back just because..also went to HOT limpics..and it was a steam bath..took in the horse and water venues..so recognise lot of that area..I like to take the scenic route.

I'm sure we will all miss seeing you and your superlative birds there.

Just as we will miss you and your Buff beauties at the Ohio Nationals.
On the bright side you will get to show against Doug's line, Fred's line which is what makes up my line the following Dec in Knoxville 2014. Their birds may satisfy you Buff fans.
