Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

The wise ole timer I talked to a few weeks ago, said sorta on this topic. The birds that grow up fast are great for summer fairs, but the best he ever had, took two years to fully come into their own. He says those are the ones you want to use in your breeding program.
The look of this fella doesn't bother me. I know he has alot more growing to do. And with my birds, different parts grow faster then others. So a tall gangly bird can turn out to be the best after the rest of him catches up and they put meat on them bones.

That tip from him was very generous to share and very generous of you to share also. Really, I did not know that. I will look at all the birds with different eyes now.

Germaine...Thor did not come into his own, so to speak, until he was 6 - 7 months old. Then he just started changing into The Man with each passing day. Be patient with those Orp boys, they are late bloomers for sure.

See my two new orps, 3 days old: They are full siblings to my deceased Thor

I am serious, all three of my Black boys looked not complete at 6 to 7 months old. I was worrying that the male I used (Carlos) was not throwing enough size. I have three boys now that all weigh right near 10 lbs. All are still very young. Your boy reminds me of mine at that age. I would give him at least another 6 months.

16, 20 and 26 are all the same boy and I think you'll have to get Cetawin's permission. She may fight you for him! LOL!

I made her bring him to me tonight because you were stalking him. His name is Lancelot and he is sleeping less than 5 feet from me....I got my eye on you woman.

Just ask speckledhen and kathyinmo about DeDe. LOL

He is really a sweet boy...he is now in the home of "cuddles" and he is being humiliated and forced to be snuggled, cuddled and watch TV with the teenager.

Seriously cracking up here. I will wake everyone up if this keeps up! DeDe? Now that can't be the Bossumy cochin can it? That pic doesn't even look real... it has tree trunks for legs and is standing straight up. I looked at that pic several times to see if it was photoshopped.

Well, maybe I should re think here. I am remembering the earlier post about the raccoons.....

No No Miss DeDe is a 3 yo black orp from speckledhen. I picked her up as a big bottom girl for Thor

Sadly, I lost him before she came went in with the flock.

Here pics are there...she has spurs like her mama, Velvet. You can see Velvet's pic a few pages back in the Dellie thread.

That silly Diva cochin stands like that and is a big hunk of a girl....still not sure if she is just a really large bantam or if she will be a standard. Crazy
