Okay... took me a while... but here is my 3yo BO 'roo's feet.

I'm thinking he might have scaley leg? But he has also been losing those big scales (fresh pink, and his feet look "better" than they did a week ago). His toes are very crooked too...

(yes, they are muddy.... it's been raining, and the yard is just beginning to finally dry out after we put the tin roof on it)

Not sure if I have posted them or not but here is a picture of my flock that I acquired a couple of weeks ago. They are Sandhill Preservation stock. Surprisingly there are a couple of really really big girls in the group. Have some plans for them.

HOWDY! didnt know if folks know about long spurs and if they like em long or not but i just wanted to let you know that you can take them off with little discomfort on the roos part and very little blood too!
grasp his leg firmly where the spur comes out of the leg, get a small pair of pliers, grasp the base of the spur(not real tight) but tight enough so when you gently twist the spur back and forth it wont slip off.
twist a little bit, about 1/8" back and forth about 6 times just to loosen the tissue, then a little more 3/8" and then it should come right off within 10-15 twists.
there will be a new shorter spur to replace the big old tripping spur. it will completely heal in a few days. easy on you ........easy on the bird!
