That does it, I'm getting a scale today.
We must have gotten eggs at the same time cause mine from Hinkjc are same age. I don't think my boy is as big as yours but as I said, no scale:

I ended up with 3 roos and 2 pullets. One of the pullets was a "runt" though and I sold her to an adoring family. The other two roos are helping out with a lavender project. One of the ones I sold was bigger than George here but I didn't like his personality too much so in spite of his size, off he went. So that leaves me with only 1 pullet and 1 roo from Jody but they are so pretty and very healthy. I'd just die if anything happened to either of them. I'll not be showing as there are so few sanctioned shows close enough for me to drive to and I don't want to have to drive all the way to Austin or San Antonio. Really I just want to raise nice birds.

.I bet we did get them at the same time last spring..what a small world!!.Hes a Stunning Rooster..Jody and Charlie have the most wonderful birds..I see why your proud of him..we sure are of ours...Too bad we wernt closer, I would have bought your runt..they go great in the Australorp pen. smaller blk orp hens = great aussies..if you use the big ones , you wind up with a bird that is too bulkie and big for the show pen, not beleivable..but the smaller more refined birds cross beautifully they often come out exactly like you imagine..

mr softie the rooster looks like a giant punch bowl in person..All chickens look small to me, even the biggest ones because we have German warmblood horses around and they dwarf everything around them..but when I picked that rooster up I knew he was heavy...the pullet, not so much, she looks like she might be heavy but shes a lot of big fluff, beautiful girl thou.. we get a vet check about a week after a show to make sure they were alright to put back near the rest...our vet was really impressed..she got on the scales with him and said 14.something lbs just under 15..and she said the great thing is he has the bones to carry that off..some of them dont.. just well balanced. she had been to another farm that she said had fantastic buffs, but she said when you looked a little more closley they had what she called monkey feet, really unfit for the show ring, but they were trying to work that out. they had the color near perfect but she said the rear toe is supposed to be placed somewhat rearward and thiers were swinging around to the side too much made them look like they had a hand. she said it does sometimes show up in the breed. they got a little too busy on the buff color and wernt paying attention to it until it got set. so hope for them they work that out. interesting conversation we had with her. Its so neat how you learn a little bit every time you talk to Chicken people and vets.

After dealing with Australorps that can at times be very protective, mr sofite is so benelovant..and passive..we had to get a better waterer for him because the sides wernt wide enough for him to get a good drink with his big face. the pullet didnt have any problem but hes just big all over. when we put the new waterer in, he was afraid of it, hee hee , but he got over it.Most entertaining character I have ever met. what chicken goes in and jumps in thier training cage when they dont have to and he was singing to himself..never seen anything like it in my life. Most chickens just tolerate that handeling, but he loved every minute of it.Im making one of those photo books at Kmart of him, just because hes one of those once in a lifetime charchters that you have the pleasure of owning.

But here is my only - Buffy. She is getting in my face - almost stink eye - as she tells me the chickens are moving into the duckhouse.

Thank you! I like to think so too - I had wondered if he was too big and fluffy for his breed but im noticing others are too.

in this pic he had the strut going lol.
I have been reading to figure out how people ship eggs and what not to have the best possible hatch rate once shipped. Think I will pop in at our post office also and chat with them about my plans.

I have some family in CO also asking or any eggs out of him so we will see.
you really want eggs? in the spring when he is bred to the splash and Lav? Im super excited - all his eggs so far i have candled from the buff, EE and the Caliornia whites seem to be fertile so far (thats his group of ladies, we have others on the property but those are his fav) he is getting the job done for sure.

very pretty girl..I have the same problem, every pic I took of our pullet and australorps was a blurr,a nd paid a lot for the camera, its probably the operator thou (me)

Thats too bad about the shows Galanie..Texas is a big state to drive around so its tough..too bad, trust me, you would do well with that bird...just look at him. .we on the other hand are surrounded by shows being so close to nationals lot of APAs to choose from close by..we have at least 5 in the vicinity..I chose 2 for this year, but one got flooded out (coboskill) but there is the yankee fall classic , bath, rochester, all pretty close by. shopping out some birds for next year. jodys are 1 on the list. talking to another breeder , perhaps a few will contact me. we'll see. I dont like to make them dull with the training so if I have enough good ones to take around..I will travel the whole area. and swap out. Some people really camapain out there, but we like to keep enough around that we dont keep expecting the same birds to perform..they get tons of r and r inbetween in the happy pasture life.We try to balance the show trail with some very happy birds..I wont do any more than 2 shows per bird per year..hopefully someday that special bird will come along and say..Im nationals material, cause if they do..off we go.

Yes, I would be VERY interested in some eggs. I would love some Splash and Lav eggs...

Just let me know when you're ready. Maybe in the spring, we could swap for some eggs? I don't have much laying right now, just the Seramas, and they're all promised. In the spring I should (hopefully) have a pretty wide variety of brees to choose from...if the darn bob-cat doesn't kill them all first!
