Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

The white Orps presented by Jim Hall; I do see the white legs but also a hint of brassiness in the male along with what has to be enhanced headgear color. That be a very vivid red LOL. Typewise they seem quite short with short backs, very short underlines and breasts carried up high which all lends to a rather V shaped or dumpy profile. I hate to seem critical of anyone's interest and enthusiasm where white Orps are concerned. They need a lot of both and some good breeding. It's just that if we are here to discuss and learn I myself am not seeing consistent type amongst the various colors and strains bred to the APA SOP. Bill and Vickie have both shown us some buffs that while very young give me the idea that they will be good Orpington type according to my own maybe old fashioned understanding. They look to have potential. I am not seeing the realization of that type in these rather different looking whites. What say any of the rest of you?
I would be happy to own any of the young White Orps in Hinkjcs photos presented by Jim Hall. The one male is obviously newly molted, and is showing a tinge of brass in the hackle, but NONE in the saddle. I think those feathers will clear to white. The rest of the flock is certainly bright white in contrast to some we have seen. Young birds displaying cream color all over, rarely mature to bright white in my experience.I doubt that the comb and wattle color has been enhanced . There is a uniformity in the flock showing healthy birds in good condition. The type of the Hinkjc birds does not show the influence of Rock or Wyandotte blood either. I feel that those birds will develop into Orps that would be very pleasing.

I would love to see breeders work toward bringing in the nice deep type breasts seen in some of these old champions..This breed fell near extinction in america..it almost seems the old time birds had the big cobby type that Cook was working to set....The Hink birds are very pretty birds..I was impressed when I saw my freinds sons pen..They had changed so much..I wonder if they mature slowly like the blk orps..the blk orps seem to grow for a little while along with the australorps then they suddenly go galloping past and get really big..the following year they dwarf the australorps and they are good size bird ..is thier enough breeding stock to work in for whites? there are pockets of nice birds out there from different parts of the country..that old book said in order to broaden the white they strictly used big typy blacks.

I know i had to really strain to see these pages at cornell free library site on that tablet even with the zoom feature. comes up bigger on the kindle. I think if you click on the pic it comes up bigger..showing the then differences between US and English by outline.

Not exactly poultry related, but I thought everyone could use a good laugh!

A guy is driving around the back woods of
Arkansas and he sees a sign in front of a
broken down shanty-style house: 'Talking Rooster For Sale '.He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the rooster is in the backyard.

The guy goes into the backyard and sees a
nice looking Buff Orpington rooster sitting there.

'You talk?' he asks.

'Yep,' the Orp replies.

After the guy recovers from the shock of
hearing a rooster talk, he says 'So, what's your story?'

The Orp looks up and says, 'Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young.
I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA.

In no time at all they had me jetting from
country to country, sitting in rooms with
spies and world leaders, because no one
figured a rooster would be eavesdropping.'

'I was one of their most valuable spies for
eight years running.

But the jetting around really tired me out,
and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so
I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job
at the airport to do some undercover security,
wandering near suspicious characters and
listening in. I uncovered some incredible
dealings and was awarded a batch of medals.
I got married, had a clutch of chicks, and
now I'm just retired.'

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks
the owner what he wants for the rooster.

'Ten dollars,' the guy says.

'Ten dollars? This rooster is amazing! Why on
earth are you selling him so cheap?'

'Because he's a liar. He's never been out of
the backyard'

And here is that rooster......

(Disclaimer: Rooster above can not talk and is not for sale. However, we may entertain offers on the boy...)
Grandma just called. She said this boy is not available!
