Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Oh John, Im so sorry..i was so attached to that hen too, always looked forward to her pics..i feel so bad....that baby must be lost without mom nearby like she was.. you need to stoat proof everyting or you will loose them all
its not a stoat this time, and no Bella dosen't seem bothered because she has 2 mothers, the dead hen Melow and the Orpington, and she perfered the orpington anyways so she dosen't seem bothered, i am though i love Melow!

John, I am just so bummed..please stoat proof , they will be back..if not stoat then what was it?

i caught a neighbor dog on cameras the other day when i was at work..he coudnt get in pens but boy he tried..gave the film to police and they also gave it to animal control..this guys going to say not my dog..they ae going to present him with the film....i can see racoons out there roaming around on those cameras at night, saw an oposum last night, cats passing through.and on occasion weasles bopping around..a momma bear with not one little baby, not 2 little babies, she had 3 little babies..saw her strewing garbage all over.she hit evey house on the hill with her little vandels...i wasnt about to go out and get inbetween her and those babies...please fence the rest of those chickens with weasle proofing..those animals dont have a grocery store..your barn is it..they will be back..our dogs keep the bigger animals off, but they dont mess with bears, they learned a big lesson about momma and baby bear..she picked the shepherd up and flung it like a toy..and they wont bother much with weasles, you can see one of our dogs on cam chasing a racoon around and around and finnaly up a tree.weasles pop in out of little places..

because a game keeper has seen the body of the one left and said it wasn't a fox or stoat, but after it is starting to come back im thinking, a dog, a fox or a buzzard, they are the main suspects. On tuesday my uncle is going to go up with a gun, the attacks happen during the day so if he isn't busy he will stay up there. if i loose anymore i will have to go to my plan B, which i really hope i don't have to!

I am happy to report that my 31 week old Buff Orp pullets have become 'hens'. They've begun laying. Woohoo! They are the teeniest most adorable looking eggs. They were so cute- we find one usually under the pear tree (their favorite hang out). Well today I found not one, but two eggs. The second was in the coop- not in a nst box and two hennies were looking at and clucking at each other. I picked it up and it was still steaming bwahaha! They looked so puzzled by the whole thing. I've waited so patiently! lol
My std buffs never lay till 8 or 9 months old. I guess if you want them to lay faster you need the eye stuff that some use.

Potential mate for STORK.
His dark eye will most likely limit the lite eye in offspring. And I love her head.
She is only 5 month old

Better pic of STORK

The Cuckoo cockerel I have been keeping an eye on

HAROLD's son. Showing he has the Brown Red gene from Harold
Lildinkem, Is this a Gold Laced in the background, next to the black? Would love to see the genetic pool diversified with others trying to start a line of them.

Actually he is from my breeding a Buff Sport cock to a Black Mottled hen. Was trying to pull something White outta that combo. Only made a bunch of Orange spangled birds. I have several others. I may use this one cockerel to Black to make some more Blacks that have some of the Exhibition traits that many find in Buff Orps that makes them more appealing.

Hmmm...Hard to tell from a picture of course, but his hackles appear to be laced as do his saddle feathers. His primaries, as well as his wing coverts//wing bars are already there. What color are his shanks and feet?...would be interesting to play with him.

What is a Buff Sport?
