WOW!!!! Beautiful!!!
I'd say that Beauty and Bella are hens and Beast is a young cockeral.I wanted to share some pictures of my English Orps. They are about to turn 10weeks old in a couple days and I just love them to death. They're so soft and fluffy, but unfortunately, they're pretty flighty ATM. I had so many chicks hatching this fall that I didn't have as much time as I should have to handle them and make them friendly.
Luckily, my daughter was visiting this weekend and she spent lots of time holding them and forcing them [against their will at times] to cuddle and sit on her lap.
They are free ranging for the first time ever today. I've been too scared of hawks and predators to let them out before now, and I'm sure I made the mistake in not letting them out sooner as they won't move away from the coop...I don't want to stress them, and I'm hoping they figure out that being out in the yard is fun!
I'm thinking at this point, they're all going to be girls, they've stayed relatively close in size and nobody has grown bright red waddles yet [FX they are hens! I've got another set of 7 that I'm hoping to have a rooster or two out of]
I give you; Bella [the blue with the sweet face], Beauty [the other blue] & Beast [The splash]

beautiful!
The US Orps out lay the English Orps. The Eng Os will lay about 40 eggs, and want to go broody. 3 days in a broody coop will change their minds. My SOP Orps are from heavy egg laying strains, and will lay an egg a day, until they have laid about 80. Then, they want to go broody in spring and fall. GREAT winter layers though.I've shut off the incubator for the holidays, and we are getting 8 eggs per day, from 8 big pullets.Do all Orps lay well during winter or are the American or English type better or worse?
OOOOooo. He's very handsome. LOVE those big fluffy butts the Orpingtons haveYour girls are very pretty too. Such sweet faces!
I'd say that Beauty and Bella are hens and Beast is a young cockeral.(Love the names by the way)
