They may not be good for buffs, but they'd be good for buff columbian projects. I'm assuming those are standards?

Iwannabeamermaid: I did think that my buff could be a brahma. The problem with that is that mine has a single comb, so I'm not sure what it is. It would be interesting to see what you get. If only someone had some mottled standard cochins, then put those with your "buffs" and you'll have the makings of mille fleur

Hmmm.... I have a bantam mottled roo and this standard "buff" cochin. I'm getting lots of ideas. It may start as a medium size bird, but could be bred to get bigger. So, can you tell me, after I breed the mottled to the buff columbian, what do I breed next to get to the mille fleur?

You would need to take the best looking birds, and mate them back to mottles again, so that you have two mottle genes

.....how many chickens can i have in a 7x7x6.5 coop, they have a run that i put them in when its nice out. i currently have 2 cochin hens in it...looks kinda empty..

There's a lot of people wanting chickens, so when you get the chance, you have to be ready to jump on them. I'm sure there are breeders who have the kinds of birds you want, and could get you some chicks or hatching eggs. Plus they'd probably be better quality.
