I plant dill just for the tiger swallow tails. They lay their eggs on it and the caterpillers love it. When I first moved to Colorado in 1982 there were butterflies everywhere. Now I feel lucky to see 1 or 2 each summer. I havent seen a monarch in at least 15 years. I dont know what happened to them but it scares me that so many butterflies and bumble bees are just flat missing. Seems like something bad must be happening to the environment. I plant specifically for bees and butterflies and birds in my yard to try and offer safe habitat for them.

i just planted 3 ornamental grasses, 1 unknown varigated plant and about 6 painters pallet plants.
i will get pictures when there outta there shock!

Beautiful gardens everyone. Here are a few of mine. They were taken with a cell phone so not the best pics.

Okay here are some of mine:
Brugmansia-these grow into large shrubs some 10+ ft tall. They are very fragrant at night and pollinated by hummingbird moths and sometimes bees.

WOW! Gorgeous pics! I would LOVE to grow things as beautiful as all of you, but I was born with a black thumb, AND we have deer and cottontails. I have planted a few things this year but it has been so wet and cold the stuff I planted two months ago is just now starting to poke through the ground........much to the delight of our chickens.
