post pics of your rescue pets

I thought i would get this thread back going again. I liked reading about rescue pets but for some reason the thread got old and there wasnt any new posts....

Pretty much all of mine are rescues.

Emma (black) is a lab mix. She was abandoned in Baltimore City with a litter of 8 pups when she was 1 1/2 yrs old. The puppies were 10 weeks old when MDSPCA rescued them, but they do not know how long she was out on the streets for. When we got her, she was 2 days from the 14-day limit at the shelter and she weighed 34 lbs. She is still scared of men in hats, brooms, bags, and thunderstorms. She adores children, especially my 2yr old cousin and her 6month old brother. She is 8yrs old in this picture (past winter), weighs 75lbs, and still does not have any grey on her.

That's Chuck our chocolate lab. She had just turned 3yrs old in that picture. Everyone says she look older than Emma. She was supposed to be a bird dog, but due to a loss in the family, we could not put that much effort or time to train her to do that. She did place top of her class in puppy school though. She was 27lbs when we brought her home at 8 weeks. She was a chunky monkey and still has a very heavy build.

All of our cats we rescued. The first picture is the 5 babies (1yr old now) The black calico's mom was run over so we took in her and her 5 brothers and sisters when they were 3 weeks old. 1 week later, we took in the 4 other cats when their mother was pushing them away at 10 days old. We found homes for the ones we could, and the rest stayed with us. Everyone says they are the most lovable and nice cats they have ever met. Teddy (dark grey) lets my 2 yr old cousin carry(well, almost drag) him round by the neck and he just lets her for as long as she wants.

Ozzy and Nancy were found under a boat when they were around 3 weeks old with 2 other sisters. One got away from us and 2 days later was run over. They are 6 yrs old

Kitty Cat was found under out shed with 4 brothers and sisters. My aunt has 2 of her siblings. She was the one the dog found and brought back to us. He then led us back to the litter. She was so stressed that she ended up losing her fur and want bald for the longest time. We could not re-home her because she was so ugly. For some reason when her fur grew back it was long-haired. She is now the prettiest of her litter. She is 8yrs old

Belle(pygmy) we bought from a man in the boondocks. He was keeping her in a 5x5 dog kennel because she was eating the propane tank's hose. He had been feeding her dog food at the time
Ruby and Lucy (Boer/Nubians) are not really rescues, but we saved their lives I guess. We bought them from a farm that raised them specifically for meat. They were just weaned and their mothers were set to go to auction the next week.

Milo and Chester watch TV sometimes this is Milo watching Looney Toons

Story:
4 kittens were abandoned in a box marked KITTENS and they crossed the road i was sitting on the trucks tailgate with my dads dog and i heard them i went in search and found Milo and Chester and put them in a crate and i heard more i walked in the front yard and found a gray female and then her black sister all were happy to find me i gave them food but Chester didn't want to eat he just wanted to be held and cuddled my mom had walked across the street and found the box and the paw prints where they crossed the road it was a miracle they weren't run over i bathed them and treated them for fleas and started feeding them can food with goats milk mixed with kitten replacer to help them gain weight since they were thin and their coats looked horrible and eyes were sad 3 days later the gray one took a turn for the worst i reached in and she was stiff but still alive rigor mortis was setting in and then the next day had the black cat put to sleep her eye couldnt be saved it was too matted and it would have cost $250 to remove it and then i treated them for worms and put eye gel to help keep there eyes from matting like the black kittens cause Chester had a small cold and eyes would get gunky

They were about 5-6 wks old and now they are going on 4mos old im just waiting for them to hit 6 mos before i have them fixed and Chester is soo loving to me i have never had a cat as loving as he is and very smart ^_^

Both of my dogs are rescues.

Penny is a 2 year old hound mix. We adopted her from a shelter who saved her and her litter mates from a situation where they were abandoned and starved. She had 3 brothers and 2 sisters. All of them got kennel cough and the 3 boys ended up dying. Penny was the last of her litter to be adopted. She was also the runt and weighed 7.2lbs when we adopted her at 11 weeks.
Here is a picture of her as a puppy:

See how little she was? She was smaller then my grandma's chihuahuas (spelling?)

This is her now, at 60lbs:

I also have another dog. Her name is Zoey and she is a 1 year old Border Collie mix. We got her from a friend who is a firefighter. He rescued her and her litter mates from a bad situation where the dogs weren't getting the proper attention. They were also flea infested.
This is Zoey as a pup, when we got her (yes, she is sitting in a cooler.

Rescue dogs are the best dogs you could have. Its such a great feeling knowing that you are giving a dog who had a rough start a loving, forever home.

Deanie Weanie....rescued at 2 weeks old by my brother off of the side of a major highway, we have no idea how he would have gotten there. He is now 13 years old.

Jade (the one rolling) loving life. She is 100% blind & was pregnant, several hundred pounds underweight, lice & terrible overgrown feet with half of her mane ripped out when we got her. We have had her for 4 years now & she is the sweetest horse you could meet.
