Well, this'll be a long list. Most of our animals are rescues!

This is Muffin, my very first dog. Her mother and her siblings were rescued from a dumpster outside a walmart. I was lucky enough to get this little girl... she has been the best dog I will ever have. I cannot express in words how much I love her, and how much she has done for me in my times of need. All I ever had to do was look down, or over my shoulder and my baby girl was there. She sleeps with me every night, and acts like the world is ending any time I leave the house. She's the only one still alive out of her littermates.
She's a Chow X Lab/Border Collie mix. 11 years old this may...

This is Chester. Amazing cat... I got him for my 15 birthday from the human society. He had been in the shelter for over a year! He is MY kitty, and usually (also) sleeps with me at night. He doesn't walk right as he was hit by a car before being dumped at the shelter. Great boy.

This is Elliot. We rescued him from a bunch of idiots that took him from his mother when he was WAY too young, and threw him outside!

Luckily we found the little boy and took him home. Chester warmed right up and they are best pals - Chester taught him everything he knew. They both protect their "home turf". Ellie is "dads kitty" and waits for his morning pet impatiently as dad wakes up. He's a great little guy.

This is Xena. We rescued her from a situation where she had been bought, then handled and raised incorrectly. The owner loved her but seen that she wasn't giving her proper care or attention and sold her to us. Poor thing never had a bath until I got her, never had her nails trimmed. Because of her inadequate handling, she's shy and cautious, but still a good girl. Never offered to bite, and does love to come out and explore/give kisses.

This was Raphael. He was our first hog, the best boy anyone could ask for. The same story as Xena, only that he had been kept in a tiny little 10 gallon aquarium without any enrichment as well. But when we started giving him love, he came out of his shell. He loved to come out and explore, run all over us, sit with us and watch TV. He got to be such a good boy, that he went around to the local schools to teach the kids about hedgehogs. My poor baby boy got cancer, and there was nothing I could do for him. He fought so hard to live, but I just couldn't watch him suffer like that. We had to put him down a few days after this last Thanksgiving. RIP Raphael.

This is my little call pair trooper(male) and belle(female). I resuced trooper after he was neglected. Before I had him he had been attacked by a raccoon and then left in a small cage, in a dark barn for two months. By the time I convinced the owner to give him to me he was almost too far gone to save, And when I picked him up, he was in the same small rusty cage, with no fresh water, and had only ransid feed to eat. I took him home sitting on my lap wrapped in a blanket. I got him home and looked him over more closely and found his eye was completely scabbed over, he had a large scab going down his whole back as well as having a broken wing.AND THE SMELL, was is was bad to say the least. Because he was left for soo long the break in his wing was already fused and after gently washing the scab over his eye, it fell off, I found that the infection moved into his eye and had essentally died.
Now I was raised to see that if an animal was sick or hurt, you should do whats best for the animals confort and well being. And I thought that it wouldnt be fair to let him suffer any longer. So I took him outsid to do the deed, and when caught a glimps of that axe he ran like the dickens! So I thought that if he has the energy to run like that, that maybe he deserves a chance. So for the next three months or so, he lived in my house being babied and pampered. And he made an amazing recovery! So I ended up adopting him his own lady friend (belle) who also happened to be partly blind (eye infection as a chick made her lose some of her eyesight) and now he and Belle will be able to live out there lives in comfort.
Trooper will never be able to straighten out his wing, and he needs baths on a daily basis with some oil in it cause his oil gland dosent work any more and hes very aggressive toward people (he seems to like me though) but I cant blame him! But after you get past those things he is one hansome lil man!

All of my rats (8) are recent rescues. Here are a pic of a few of them. Tibbles and Chuck Norris. Their owner couldn't care for them any more and was giving them away with their "cage". Their cage was SO tiny, not even big enough for one rat let alone 8. I also believe the only female in the group was housed with the boys continuously and has had litter after litter. The boys now live in a huge 4 story cage with over 15feet of floor space. Mama rat is currently raising her last litter and is in a maternity cage, we will keep one of her daughters as a cage mate for her and she will live seperate from the boys from now on! They also all had mites which have since been treated successfully.

The dog in the foreground is Mabel, she is the best dog I've ever owned and the dog that started my love affair with the mastiff breed. I was doing some volunteer work for a local rescue, delivering dogs to a spay/neuter clinic about an hr from my home. while waiting in the waiting room this young man came in with the cutest puppy under his arm. He asked the clinic if he could leave his puppy their would they promise not to put her to sleep. They said go to the humane society. I walked up and starte dto talk to him. His father had just died and he had to go back to italy immediately. He didn't have the time or money to arrange to fly his pup back to her breeder. I said "I'll take her" He handed her to me along with her papers / food.. everything. That was 8 years ago when she was 12 weeks old.

This is Bruer. Found under a car... He is ancient now, I've had him longer than any of my children and my oldest is 12 yrs.

This is Fawkes he is a GCC. He has a beak deformity. His beak was severly over grown when we rescued him, he still requires beak trims every 6-8 weeks and still looks odd. But is much better now.

This homely little fellow was found at the side of the road. My dog Mabel had to help me catch him. After a good bath, some socialization and a much needed dewoming he lives a wonderful dogs life with friends of ours up near algonquin park. I had a recent update from his new family. who called him Tucker.

"Tucker is doing so well. Today we went for a walk. He checked out all of the local ice shanties, chased a snowmobile and ate a fish head. He is enjoying life! He got neutered last week but seems to be recovering well. Thank you so much for rescuing him!"

This is my Siamese, Miso. She was one of three adult cats at a resue day at Petsmart. Everyone was so focused on the little fuzzy kittens that they overlooked one beautiful and sweet (but needy

) cat!

This is our snake who my boyfriend found in a backpack that some kid threw over the fence at the park behind his mom's house.

This is our orange kitty who wasn't really rescued I guess but she was a stray in the neighborhood that adopted us. I think she spent so much time scrounging for food that she doesn't know when to stop when there is food available so she has gotten quite fat and is now on a diet... LOL. As you can see she has made herself right at home!

My OTTB who sadly passed away several years ago. He was about 300lbs underweight when we got him... Literally skin and bones. Later it became clear that he had also had some other mistreatment as well or at least very bad riding. He turned out to be a wonderful dressage horse for me. I LOVED this horse and still miss him to this day

Gorgeous horse, Jetgirl.

I've already posted in this thread, but the other night I got a picture of all our Japanese rescue pets together, so I had to share:
