Post picture of your turkeys!

Assume your girl is a broad breasted turkey(??), which will grow big fast. If you are hoping to keep her as a pet, you'll have to take charge of her eating habits. Start measuring her food (a cup to 1 1/2 cups of crumbles), which should be a high protein food of 20%. No treats like scratch and stay totally away from corn. If you live in an area that still has some green grass, let her free range to eat the grass and weeds... if you can't free range or live in an area where green grass is a thing of the past, then get fresh greens from the grocery store and shred them a little (spinach, kale, leaf lettuce, cabbage, mustard/turnip greens). The idea is to make her diet leaner without dropping her protein levels.

she's a white Holland Turkey she was a gift and I love her I was told they don't live too long

I was also given a royal palm she's way smaller

Do you have pics of your White hen? If she is very large she could very well be a Broad Breasted variety turkey. I suppose it cant be ruled out that heritage varieties can get over weight and need diets but I have never seen it.

Royal Palms are typically a smaller slender variety turkey so assuming your white hen is a Holland and if you are going by the comparison of the 2 varieties specifically that may be why you are seeing a size difference, that is expected.

If your white hen is overall very heavy in comparison to most turkeys and if you are noticing she has a harder time walking and roosting at night then she may very well be a Broad Breasted White turkey (meat turkey).

Pictures will help.

Sounds Great, pics will help others to be able to give you better advice.

I have never raised a BB meat turkey past 6 months old, I always process them by Thanksgiving. They are not meant to be kept as pets though they do have the most lovely personalities. There are people here on BYC that have kept the BB turkeys to older ages with very restricted diets im sure someone could point you in the right direction to read up on it or give you advice if you decide to go that route. My personal advice is always to process so the turkey doesn't have to suffer but its all a personal choice.
