Hi,
I have a 10 week old chick, not sure what breed or gender… can anyone help me pleaseView attachment 2407223View attachment 2407224View attachment 2407225
Do you have updated pictures? Where did you get her?
Hello, I'm new to this forum and to chicken keeping!
I was temporarily taking care of 7 chickens but one turned out to be a rooster and we ended up with 8 new baby chicks. I can keep the babies if they aren’t roos. Thanks for helping me sex them!

first batch: supposed to be 3/4 brahma, 2.5 months old

second batch: brahma sussex mix, same mom and dad, 2 months old
I think only the one in the middle is a girl, she is small and has a mini comb compared to the others

third batch: brahma sussex mix 1.5 months old (same parents as the second batch)
I am really confused about these, only the one on the left looks like a roo to me but the other two remind me of the "roos" of the second batch... so not sure.

I see two possible pullets, the rest are most likely cockerels.

Aw, I’m sorry.
The one in the back of the first pic of the third batch looks female too, actually.

Thank you for your help, much appreciated!

We are keeping the girl from the second batch and get some new friends for her.

I am also thinking about keeping the first batch too, as a rooster-only flock, separated from the hens. Just not sure if they can live happily, just the two of them..

We also have a broody hen now sitting on 9 eggs, I am curious to see the boy-girl ratio in those. I read that backyard chickens tend to hatch more cockerels and it is for sure true in our case!

Huh! I’ve never heard that before. But I highly doubt it’s true. Many backyard chickens come from hatcheries. And hatches are always 50/50, though it doesn’t always seen that way. The way I think of it is, when a hatch turns out all boys for you, someone on the other side is having extraordinarily good luck with their all-pullet hatch...

I've come to realize that if you want girls, you'll get more boys  . It might be the same the other way around, but I wouldn't know because I don't vouch for boys! I did hear somewhere that there is a 50-55% chance of a roo, and 45-50% for girls, but I don't think I believe that.

I can’t seem to find the article where I read about it! But it made the point that backyard chickens tend to lead stress-free lives and produce more males.

Our eggs came from the dominant hen and the two subordinates under her, and they are definitely the least stressed-out of the whole flock. :D Though I still think it was random, it will be easy to change my mind if the 9 new eggs also come out as mostly males.

Thank you, so glad to hear pullet , pheeww 🤣 yes yes hatched September 2020 ☺️🤝 the silky has no comb its just a lil red 🧐
Photo is a little little bit blurry. Though I would expect at this age to see more comb if it is was a boy. Could be she’s getting ready to lay eggs that’s why the comb has pinked up a bit. I guess you will know soon.
My Silkies all start laying at around 7 to 8 months of age.😊
