Does anyone have a preferred method / mix for a good post-wound wash? As posted earlier, one of my girls had a run-in with a big opossum. She made it but the possum bit her and ripped tail feathers out right at the rectum, so she's now dealing with a scab (Farnam Wonder Dust is great) and it's effecting the opening, i.e. hardening up.
I've tried a warm water soak but it's didn't really help on the main part. I was going to try warm water and Epsom salt or a peroxide wash it soften everything up. I'm just worried about; a) opening the wound back up, b) stressing an already stressed bird.
She was pooping up until yesterday but it looks like it's getting hard / blocked.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Derek
