Hi All!
I'm a new chicken mama this year and am SO excited about having my babies! I have 7 chicks - 2 buff orpingtons, 2 barred rocks, 2 golden buffs, and a black lace polish. They all arrived safely and with the exception of 1 with a little bit of pasty butt, they're doing great. We took a short field trip out for a photo op and they did great. I hope it wasn't too early to take them outside, but I figured mama would have done it if they were doing it in nature. I watched them closely for signs of distress, and they didn't act cold, scared, or too hot. They really seemed to enjoy foraging - even attacking some flea beetles in my garden. I've been handling them a lot so they are not afraid of me, but I think I may have gone too far . . . the two barred rocks continue to leave the flock and follow me everywhere . . . I would put them back with the group, then they would both leave and jump up on me. It really was adorable!
