first thing I did on my aviarys because at the store the told me a story about a fellow who came home from work a bit early so decided to tend his parakeets.... six by six walk in aviary. YEP.... he was there three hours later when his wive came home.....all pooped on.
I used some safety wire.... because string can break eventually
Yes mine lock like that has a hole through the part where it comes down around that stick thingy and I have a lock master lock I like the coop with at night and I then when I go in to collect eggs I stick the lock through the hole to keep me from locking my self inBIG lesson learned today....Be careful of the lock on the coop....
You might need to make an unorthodox escape hatch

These are my mamma hens other than the white girl. She's new for me. My babies will be just as pretty I pray. They were laughing at me while I squeezed out of the opening I made.
