post your chicken coop pictures here!

first thing I did on my aviarys because at the store the told me a story about a fellow who came home from work a bit early so decided to tend his parakeets....  six by six walk in aviary.  YEP....  he was there three hours later when his wive came home.....:lau    all pooped on.

I used some safety wire.... because string can break eventually

Oh my.

I'll use safety wire. Last thing I need is broke string.

BIG lesson learned today.... Be careful of the lock on the coop.... You might need to make an unorthodox escape hatch

Yes the brilliant me locked herself in the coop while checking for eggs... That were not there...
Yes mine lock like that has a hole through the part where it comes down around that stick thingy and I have a lock master lock I like the coop with at night and I then when I go in to collect eggs I stick the lock through the hole to keep me from locking my self in

O ha there pretty black Australorps right

Yep. My husband wanted great, docile brown egg layers that were good for eggs and meat. That way we would be able to use all stages. Me being a butcher helps with the whole thing. We try to support ourselves as much as possible. I can't wait to get the new veggie garden going at the new house. That way I will be able to put fresh trimmings in the coop and start supplanting our feed costs with fresh stuff. Once these 17 all reaching laying stages my new babies will be well on their way to joining them. I can sell extra eggs and birds to my family, friends and neighbors.

Well day 15 of current incubation has come to a close and I need to go to bed. Lots to do tomorrow. I'm going to start building my cull zone for the roosters, fixing my hen coop and preparing the border for my upcoming hatchlings. That all while my kids are home for a WEEK LONG VACATION from school. I didn't even know that when we set the eggs to hatch. Perfect timing for my daughters project. Night all.
