post your chicken coop pictures here!

4 will be pushing it, and you're going to need a bigger run.

Oh yeah! I made sure to get the extension that goes with it. TSC is having a great sale and deals on coops and such, and I'm hoping to let the ladies free range for a while each day (SAHM/college student so I'll have plenty of time to keep an eye on them)

The vast majority of prefab coops are too flimsy to hold up for more than a season or two. For the money, they just aren't worth it. If you can work a drill, you can build a 4x4 coop for your hens, no problem, for less. Most hardware/lumber stores will do all the major cutting for you if you have your dimensions. Just look through the 'Coops' section for good plans.

Still not going to be enough room. Each adult bird needs a minimum of 10 sq ft of run space.

I thought that was only if they were completely kept inside?
There will be times that you won't be able to free range them. When a predator decides that your free-range flock is an all-you-can-eat buffet, you're going to need to pen them up. It's better to have a safe place for them ready, instead of waiting for your flock to get picked off one by one.

You're right. My last experience with owning chickens I only had one, so space wasn't much of an issue. Do you have any recommendations for expanding the run further?
