Ok, I can imagine all sorts of uses for these pipes but, what are they for?

Noticed the "Clinton" address. I graduated from Clinton in 64. Just thought id say Hi! Just bought 2 turkeys to go with my 18 hens. Updates when i get started on my 8' addition.
Clinton Michigan? that would have been a long time ago.

Looks like auto feeders to me.

Did you use tube steel for the hoop portion? That had to be rather expensive!

I don't know if they bought the hoops or what not but you can buy a bender for about $60 and using two 10' 6" chain link top rails (about $8 each) for each hoop you can build hoops about that size for about $16 each, or $64 total (less bender cost) for the 4 half circle hoops as pictured...

Nice example of an affordable coop. Do you have some sort of wire fencing skirted out at the bottom to keep digging predators out?

Built this after one I seen on here. Probably got a little carried away with it.

Looks like you did a very good job building it but I agree with everything LateStarter said. I like his "addition" idea for the nest box end.

If you don't try to put the food and water in the coop, put it under the coop. Then you will have just enough space inside the little house to put Three roosts. I think it would be OK if they get lots of yard time to get out of the pen. I have nine chickens and my coupe is 4 x 8 raised so it is 32 ft.². Of floor space with roosts taking up one and which would be 4 x 4. Three roosts will fit if you put them a foot apart and four will fit if they are 8 inches apart. My chickens free range all day and only go to the coop to lay eggs or sleep. And the nesting box is outside which also gives more floor space.

Parallel roosts at the same level should be 18" apart for large fowl so the birds on one can't pick on birds on the other. Sadly, chickens don't always "play nice" and those higher in the pecking order will mess with those that are lower just to "remind" them of their status. And the roost should not be any closer than 12" from the wall so they don't have to twist sideways to keep from hitting it while roosting. They will happily lean against a side wall.

I love the coops guys but all I can beg is DO NOT USE A HEAT LAMP INSIDE THE COOP!!!
My entire coop went up in flames last night. 16 dead and I'm not sure how many injured. If anyone knows what to use if they are burnt please let me know.

Greetings Shelly! Welcome to BYC! That's an awesome set-up you have there space wise. Did you use tube steel for the hoop portion? That had to be rather expensive! Are you going to cover it at all, like with tarp or canvas or something for weather/sun protection? If I were you, I'd make one change; replace the chicken wire with something much more substantial at least around the bottom, up 3 feet. From the looks of those woods in the background, I imagine that you have predators who would love a chicken dinner and most can bust through chicken wire in under 5 minutes. Nice job!

Hi, we used trampoline frames. Free unwanted frames! :) yes we will be adding a few more things, it's a work in progress
