post your chicken coop pictures here!

They may prevent spillage but they are strictly warm weather drinkers. They would freeze solid in winter even with water heater in the resivoir. I still have to see what happens this winter with my setup. Im going to.drop that thin bird bath heater in the fill pipe and hope it keeps the horizontal pipe thawed. If not i still have a heated drinker but it was designed by a sadist.....

We're new to the Chicken thing, but had the same concern about the nipples leaking and leaving us with damp bedding.
I have damp bedding which could become a problem but no worse than with the drinkers. They knocked.the drinkers around and spilled more than they drank. Since they dont hang out under the drink pipe, no bedding is really needed there. My concrete floor has a slope built in so it may take care of itself if i remove some of he bedding there. Have to give it a try :)

I have no leaking issues with the horizontal nipples, at least nothing that normal evaporation doesn't take care of...

This waterer is in a brooder with 20 chicks (about a month old when picture was taken) as you can see the litter is bone dry under the nipples...

Definitely hear that about warm weather. I live in Southern California, and it almost never gets below 35-40 even in the dead of winter, so I don't even really have to worry about freezing.

I have a pvc vertical waterer as you can see. It came with a vertical nozzle, I added a horizontal one. Gotta a bird bath heater in it for winter. It gets down to -30*F here. Yeah I have to go out in the morning to defrost the nipples at those times of year however I'm already out collecting eggs before they freeze so not much of a concern to me.

Dad may be waiting for you to try initiative on some of the parts you actually can do yourself?  Sometimes dads feel sorry for your struggling and chime in to help.  GL!

I have thought about starting stuff myself but then decide against it since i have no clue how to use the tools plus they dont really let me or seem to mind ha i admit though i should have helped more during framing, i could have nailed and stuff. But now with the clapboard that is a hard part so cant really do it myself. Hes mostly been busy, still haven't finished it he took apart the side of part of the house and has been working on the boat, at a race now, but he wants to finish it this week

My coop is nothing fancy like all the other coops on this thread but it is homemade though. We only have three chooks at the moment but i am hoping to expand my flock soon. They get let out a couple of times a day as i have a dog and they can't be let out without supervision. (That little coop inside is where i keep my King Quails)

The cord is attached to a outdoor power strip and timer. The timer kicks on a light at dusk that draws the hens back into the hen house for bed time. It will also provide power during the winter to heat their water.
