post your chicken coop pictures here!

Unfortunately I bought it from a website with private sellers, no returns allowed... it's ok, I will have to just think about something to add and modify it. It's alright.

That stinks :/

Well, you could always use it as intended and get a rabbit... Branch out so to speak... Then start fresh on a real coop for your soon to be had girls. I mean, you can build a basic coop fairly fast and inexpensively as a "hold over" till you have the time and $$ to build something fancier. The birds don't care about fancy... That's a human problem.

Agree. You don't even have to branch into breeding them, could just get a pet rabbit or two haha

Yeah, it's a grow out coop. Birds over 12 weeks have a hard time getting in and out. It's impossible for an adult hen to get in at all. It's made for rabbits. And rabbits don't need the same kind of head room that an adult chicken needs. For a full grown, adult hen to comfortably enter and exit a coop, the entrance should be at least 12 inches tall. Rabbits only need an opening of about 8 inches tall.

My Buff Orpington rooster is 27" tall. You would have to fold him in half more than once to get him in there!

I've got a few large roosters myself. It's a great coop for young birds that need to integrate into the flock. The adults can't fit in there, so I can leave it open in the main run and let the little ones come and go in complete safety.

Are you building a coop for your neighbors chickens?

Cracking up! Looks like it tho, eh? No, I'll get my own. We're aware that there may (will) be sleepover issues. Hey, I've been feeding her girls for almost 2 years when they come knockin' (literally), at least she brings me eggs. Portage County Fair starts tomorrow, I know the 4-H poultry leader...I'm stylin.

Mine will be at the end of the tractor with an access door behind them. I can rotate the bucket to get the eggs while the buckets will block the chickens exit. I'm not sure how my dogs will react to chickens, so the not escaping thing is important. Should I loosely bolt the buckets to the floor to keep the chickens from flipping it over? It'd be a little harder to clean that way, but far more secure.

The Fowl Stuff buckets were screwed to walls so I don't know how to bolt them to the floor. Ask Fowl Stuff for suggestions?

I plan to put a bolt down the middle of the upright nesting buckets through the floor, but leave it loose enough to spin. It can't be tipped over and the nesting material will cover the bolt head. Maybe I should coat it with caulk or something soft to prevent it from cracking eggs. This is how I will arrange the buckets on this end. The right bucket is for feed. The fill port will be supported by the front wall. 'The left bucket will do the same for water and the fill port will be supported by the back wall. The middle 2 will be nesting buckets, but since I will have 4 nesting buckets on the other end of the tractor, until I need the nests, I will store cleaning tools in the middle 2 and keep the opening facing the outside doors on the end of the tractor.

My hubby just built this for our 3 wyandotte chicks Lacey, Mother Duck and Bird. Its a 8x4 feet tractor

The roosts will be higher in the top of the tractor and there is a ramp to get access to grazing, food and water below at ground level. I'm thinking about loosely bolting the nesting buckets to the floor so I can spin them around to to get the eggs from the outside and the chickens won't be able to knock the buckets over.

Why not just keep it simple and cut a 4" give or take round hole in the back that you can reach in and grab eggs out with a door that covers the hole from the outside vs trying to figure out some rotating scheme?

Good Idea. It would make a good peep hole to make sure I'm not reaching into the nest with a cotton mouth in it. I still want to rotate it for cleaning and the bolt will keep the chickens from knocking it over and/or getting trapped inside. I have spare stainless 1 1/4" bolts with hardware from my work. So they're free.
