@Sylvester017 Here's a pic of the mesh in use, I've installed it on the lower bottom to keep rodents out of the breathing space between the siding and insulation.

That's how pre-built assembled coops have their removeable perches - in cradles as you call them.

I can't afford a store bought coop lol...

Ok...........so no one told me how heavy a reciprocating saw is and how hard it is to use!! I only have 3 more post to trim (the tops)....have done 7 ! I can mark them all day long and since I am standing on top of a ladder and having to cradle that thing in my arm.

....I don't have a single level top

...already thinking thru how to go back to get that right.! But WOW !!!! I had to quit for a few minutes and then I have to go finish before dh gets home at lunch or he will kill me! LOL Talk to you all later!!

Have had to do like you..I would listen to advice but most of the time I'm by myself so I have to just figure it out...  that's ok, when I get this done it will be because "I" figured it out and did it inspite of not having much help at all[/COLOR].

Hahaha. I always build alone and probably build two structures by the time I'm done bec of redoing!! Lol. Part of the fun is figuring out how to overcome a problem. On my latest, the little blocks with stars are bec I cut the big posts on each side of the door too short. I cut 2 squares of about 2" to make up the difference, but it didn't look very good, so I bought the star squares from Lowe's to cover it up and I love how it came out. lol there were many such changes. So fun.

Haha. I had to sell my reciprocating saw at the garage sale just for that reason. When I cut post now I make measured marks in a continuous line all the way around the post. Then I put the post on saw horses and use my jig saw and cut four times from each side as far as I can and it meets in the middle. A guy at Lowe's told me about that. For things that don't come out quite right, I go to Lowe's and get trim. Trim is cheap and hides a multitude of mistakes. (No, I do NOT have an interest in Lowe's, it just become my store of choice bec I know where everything is and sometimes I can find things there I can't find in other places. )

Well,,,,I better head back out if I'm going to get those 3 done! Supposed to rain in a little while!! Yuk.....so much humidity !! It just kills you and invites the gnats!!

I started to build my framework for my 4'x8' coop and my husband got MAD!!!!!

He took it apart and then told me that he would get it done later!!!!!

sounds just like my Husband.I need to learn some basic carpenter skills.I did get a cordless drill for Christmas.and boy that has come in handy.I was looking at a small skill saw.and was told YOU DON'T NEED THAT.When he sees me heading off to the coop.with wire.hammer and what ever else I think I may need.He comes a running.And asking me what are you doing.Than I hear I'll do that,In a irritating voice.HE does P~~~s me off.
