post your chicken coop pictures here!

I didn't know any of our coops can EVER be finished.  We're constantly modifying so don't be surprised that 3 years from now you are still adding on, modifying, reconfiguring, etc etc etc!

I couldn't agree more with this. I know we have a massive addition planned for our coop and run with seperation pens for breeding and a larger space. Eventually. ... when we have extra money lol

Do you think three 22" roosts is enough for 6 RiR's they would have to double up. Hope they all get along well enough

Yes. The recommendation is 12" per bird. When it is cold they may only sit really close together and you might see 3 on the same board. When it is hot in the summer, they will spread out. Also answering questions on your other thread.

with all this snow is driven us crazy and the chickens to, some days we could not leave them out, thank god we have a big camper coop, but monday we found mold in the back, here water has been coming down the inside of the wall to the insulation, so we have to get chickens out of there, went and got another camper which don't have the door in the back and is solid, i have it all fixed and ready nests are in, floor is fixed with chips, now we have to but tires back on old coop so we can pull it out and put new one in, we are going to put fence up in middle to cut yard in half, i got a delaware blue roos and 2 hens, have not been able to bring them home till we fix things, we also have a rir roos which is why we are going to have 2 yards and we have 2 coops, we will put fence in the middle temp till ground gets soft to put up good fence, we have to take fence down to pull camper out put we do not have to remove the posts from ground. we will spilt the hens up and put the black sexlicks in with delaware blues, also have 2 white odd hens that will go in that will leave all red sexlicks and rir hens and rir roos, in other one. snowing again we are going to get 6" on top of the old snow which did not melt.

Wow, that's a lot of cold weather. Sorry about your old camper. What a bummer after all the work you guys put into your yard! We had heavy rain a couple days (unusual for sunny CA just ten miles from where the New Year's Pasadena Rose Parade is held) and now have 70-80 degree temps but it's going to rain again this weekend. The chickens are taking to the water fine but I have to tarp my tender seedling beds from the heavy rains. It never just showers or sprinkles here -- just POURS whenever we get a little rain. That's why we canopy over our little coop to protect from the brutal sun or the heavy rains. Our new coop is on order so we are patiently waiting for it to arrive on pallet to assemble. It.s a Cove Products Mobile 4x4 Barn Coop with run below and an additional 4x4 run to add -- the run area is powder-coated dog kennel wire with a criss-cross pattern and stronger than even 1/2-inch hardwire. We have an ASPCA kennel and loved the sturdy heavy wire walls so went with another coop with powder-coated wire. Raccoons and 'Possums and an occasional stray cat are our worst predators in the suburbs. We're tearing down the chainlink and putting up a block fall fence around the property. That should keep out the occasional stray dog as well. Stray dogs broke down our gate the first month we had chickens and a good neighbor chased them off but not before the attacking dogs mangled the cheap poultry chicken coop wire beyond repair. Dogs can REALLY dig too but luckily we had a wide paver stone patio around the little coop!

we have foxes to worry about, once we saw a coyote which was on our deer camera so we have to make sure the outer fence is safe but we do lock them in everyday at 4:30 then we leave them out about 9:30am the yard for them are fenced in no free range here.

Better to be safe with fencing than free ranging in your area. We're in the suburbs but our free-range area is probably only the size of your entire chicken pen enclosure! Because we have a small backyard and half is taken up with garden beds. The chickens don't mind. They find plenty of bugs in the tall grass after the rain!

we have a mean man next door who would shoot them if they went even under my trees which go along the line, but we do have 3 acres so we can give them a lot to run in, I fence a small spot on the side to let them get grass once in a while, and when we cut the yard they come running for the grass, we turn the mower so it went into the yard for them, my dh did the outer fence good nothing an get in ( I hope ) we close the whole coop up at night and with it being a camper they really have to work but have not got in yet. they really don't need that much yard but dh fixed it so they got it, now we will put the fence across the short way to have 2 yards,
