post your chicken coop pictures here!

You did a great job...I think your son thinks so, too!!

Don't just knock on wood. Lay down some wood! Ha! Give them some brush or branches or hiding places in your run. They scurry to safety trying to get under something if they see an aerial predator, so give them that "bunker". Could save a life.
They run under the coop if they sense danger. They also use it as shade, actually I think under the coop is their favorite place. I only hope they don't start laying under there, would involve some crawling and a rake lol. I do need to put some things in there to keep them occupied just not sure what yet. I try to let them out everynight for a bit and on the weekends.

Why not just put a small nest easy to get to for them? Just an extra.

mine all go under the camper which is their coop I think they are there more then in the yard, we have started a new coop as we have 20 more peeps to house, when the new one is done we are just going to open gate and let them go to new one which is going to have a run with it, then we will work on old yard to be fixed and the coop will be cleaned real good.

our peep room will be back up.

I am in the midst of building my first chicken coop, in fact building my first anything actually. The main house is 6' x 4' x 5', the nest boxes are 14" deep x 14" wide x 17" height at apex and 9" at end.

What do you think, and any suggestions or complaints?

The raised foundation (constructed with 4x4 studs and 2x4's, and weather sealed for environment and water protection)

The wall frames have been put into place (wall frames are 2x3's)

The Entry Breeze Way frame is installed

The plywood sheathing is going up (The east side window framing is 14x21, which a sliding shed window will be going in there)

Oops, forgot to put the roofing frame on.

View of the nest box, north side of the coop to keep the daytime scorching sun off of it (Don't know why the image is sideways when I uploaded it)

View of the south side of the coop, with a 14x21 window frame, and underneath a flower box with an organic herb garden and roosting perch will be put up later. (Again no idea why the image is sideways)

All the plywood undersheathing is complete along with the roofing plywood

Aerial view

Probably the hardest part so far was making these access doors.

But hey they work and fit perfectly

Time to put the Tongue and Groove Siding on...

More pictures coming soon.

@OldMcContri Looks cute, are you modeling it after your house? If you have issues with the doors, you might want to think about putting a diagonal brace inside the door frame, lower end at the hinges, this would help support the weight of the door and keep it straight. If they seem to be working fine, the plywood probably gives enough support already.

Thank you :). No it's not modeled after my house. It was just something I drew up one night when I was trying to think of how it should look and that is the one that looked basic enough yet a little stylish I guess. The doors are working great, they are not that heavy.

Boy, for someone who's never built anything before you've done a GRAND job!! Wish I had that much skill! I did notice one thing...in this pic:

Your nest boxes are on the side of the coop with no overhang that I can see. Have you accounted for 'leakage' during rainy times? Just thinkin' ... always a bad thing ... hate gettin' old ...

Thank you. I decided to put a board on the back side instead of leaving it airy. As nice as it looks to me, I think the chickens prefer to be more enclosed when they sleep.
