post your chicken coop pictures here!

will this is the best way a fox should be
I'm sure a bunch of people will wail at this comment but the best place for this guy is DEAD! Most laws allow death if they encroach on your property or threaten your property (chickens are considered property just like pet dogs or cats are considered property). Check your State/City/County laws because just releasing into the wild will just bring the critter back again or become someone else's property threat!

To late.. We ripped the wall down a year ago... I FELL through the kitchen floor!!! He put cardboard over it and duck taped it...

I would worry about the fact that he was comfortable about being that close to humans! Usually a fox like that is sick in some shape, form, or fashion... Call your county's local agriculture extension service of the wildlife people in Raleigh to get advice but many times they will do the relocation if that is what you chose. I myself, as much as I like wildlife,,,,,I would put him down due to the possibility of sickness like rabies.

@Sylvester017. that 2x4(?) welded wire you've got on your run area will not deter raccoons. They will easily reach in and grab a chicken by the head/neck and rip them off. You need to also at the very least wrap' some 1/2" hardware cloth all around about 2-3 feet up from the bottom...just thinkin' ...
I don't believe I said 2x4 wire but 1/2 inch wire - 1/4 inch is too flimsy and any wire larger than 1/2 inch will allow SNAKES, rodents, Coon paws, etc to reach into the coop. I often suggest 2x4 planks flatside up for perches - maybe that's where you got the 2x4? 1/2 inch hardwire is so darn expensive but better than throwing good money into bad flimsy poultry wire

Have a question.....................I am trying to get a chicken run done. Today, I got one posthole dug.. putting them down 2' with quickcrete and I'm going to splay the hardware cloth wiring out ...like an L from the base of the run and post. I know this along with my paving stones will deter the diggers............what about snakes? I have a couple of residential black racers in the treeline right beside the run/coop. Hate to kill them....although when one came at me in a challenging way,,,,I almost took a shovel to him. Instead I took the dirt I had on my shovel and threw at him. I like having them around for the rodent population, in fact, my mole population has decreased since they took up residence. ! How can I keep out the snakes????

Hope this gets thru,,,my BYC is not working right now.....anyone else having problems...

Like this ? The first pic was still under construction. It seems like it is always an on going project. Thanks for the advice.

Much better - now the wire can be lifted up by a critter's paws so you need to bury it under earth or place paver stones over it. So glad to see you improving with every photo! After investing so much into poultry it would be a shame to lose them to a security issue. Good work.

@TJordan
Believe me I know. We've been chasing leaks for months. Especially when it rains really hard. Ughhhh!!!!

Tarps are the ugliest thing on the Universe but it sure saves our coop from overhead leaks. We eventually raised it up off the patio on skids to keep the rain from flowing into the coop floor.
