post your chicken coop pictures here!

thanks for your advice the white trellis is just for show I do have half inch hardware cloth that I will be installing just bought it today at Lowes it wasn't cheap but after reading all the post I guess it will be well worth it.I will be also building a run to the left of it which I will post up
Unfortunately for us chickeneers the 1/2 inch hardwire is the most expensive part of a coop build and not really something that can be found in salvage hunts so setting aside $$$ for rolls of new wire is a must. All coop materials can be salvaged pieces at zero dollars but not the hardwire. For your window box use plastic artificial foliage - it won't put stress on the ledge with dirt weighing down from real pots or flowers. A little trick I use for bare spots in my garden. There's a place for real flowers but with our ant problems we hate to invite them near our chicken housing.

Just a little bit more paint. This is about 50% reclaimed wood and total cost was only around $350. My labor cost is priceless. ;-)

On the right are quail hutches.

I call this the "integration hall". On the left is the grow out pen. The adults are able to see the chicks and vise versa. I find this works out well when it comes time for the younger ones to graduate to the big pin.

The grow out pin. This also works as a selective breeding pin.

Plenty of room to roam.

We repurposed an old camp trailer for our chicken coop.

This was early in the project.

Getting further along

We have pullets in the pen now.

And a roost. The floor is several layers of cardboard with shredded paper until we can get sawdust.

It has a way to go until it's completely done, but it will be a fancy and secure home for the ladies.

We don't have a lot of wildlife around, mostly dogs with a few possums, feral cats and such. We have five chihuahuas and a watch cat that keep the critters out of our yard--mostly. The cat sleeps all day near the chickens. When I had a few chicks escape, she helped me find the little rascals, but made no attempt to hurt any of them.

I raised them all in my living room.

and the dogs and cat got used to having them around.

More pictures later as we get things better.

this guy was super nice and has good intentions, but as you said you need to know things when doing such work. I had a scare w/ a family of raccoons come up to the house tonight...our first sighting. Had to move the tractor in our garage for the night...major work being done on it tomorrow. eek.

I just could not physically bury my wire when it needed to be done...I'm about give out of my last barrel of energy so this has got to wind up soon.

I have been buying these blocks 10 at a time. probably need about 40 more to complete the perimeter. Do you think this will be enough to deter diggers? I have the blocks completely around the base of the coop and this far up the front gate-side, then the 2nd pict is how far up the back side (on the tree line)... Still working on the inside of run.

After I get the girls out in the run, I will work on the inside of the coop. Maybe cooler temps will prevail by then! Yes, I'm dreaming..

I worked on this with just a basic idea of what I wanted, and actually built a "mini" version with cardstock first! Was a great learning process and the chick-chicks seem to like it.

This was about halfway finished.

Can anyone tell me how to get chickens to use ramp to a run?

I had read on one of the threads that someone sprinkles it with scratch to encourage their chickens to use the ramps. I haven't had trouble getting my own to use them but given how food-driven chickens are, I see no reason why that wouldn't work.
