post your chicken coop pictures here!

Thanks. I finally got both drinking. They are still iffy on the feeder though. One is very active while the other is so mellow and laid back. I hope it's ok.
Good luck with the little guys!

Some touch up paint and I'm done this one.

This is very, very nice! Tell us more about it. Storage areas?

Was this a DIY kit, made from scratch, or ???  I love red and white!  From the looks of the chain fence do you plan to give them some free-range access?

The chain fence is actually the neighbors fence and not part of the coop. The bottom pop doors will have easy access to grass area in the yard. So some free range. I purchased the plans online. This was the heather Bullard chicken coop. I pretty much stopped following the plan after framing was done as I had to many modifications.

There is storage on the side. I will take more pics. I still need to instal the feeder and watering system. They are in the coop and won't come outside at this point. Just put them in on Sunday. Had to bring the water and food inside. Hopefully over the weekend they will be put.

Looking forward to more pics, and what you choose for your food/water systems.

Sadly we did lose the mellow chick last night but I'm glad I was there holding it while it breathed it's last. Seemed to calm it. The other I found out that it is a wood duck chick and is protected where I live so I contacted a conservation group who gladly took the little one in. My son and I even walked around the grounds and found it's open to the public for walking and educational tours. Even picnics. I'll be taking both kids next time.

Now. Down to the fun part... My poor broody hen momma is overwhelmed right now. She went from 2 noisy little chicks to this...

Little ones everywhere. She seems to be accepting them but I'll continue to watch her today for signs of rejection. I've got a brooder ready if that's the case.
Needed to mix up my blood stock a little because my mom-n-law wants 4 hens and the new cock when he's bigger. I'll mark momma so she doesn't get mixed Into that group. The new hens will add blood stock.

You could always follow the a frame design and build the boxes up and out a foot and a slanted top to the boxes so the rain and what not will just run off and that way you can also open the top to get your eggs.

I have a coop similar to yours. Here is a picture of how the nest boxes are right now.
They aren't attached so I can move them around inside the coop. We may figure out a way to clamp them down for stability at some point.

Egg doors on each side, but can reach them from the pop doors too.

People have already told me the hens may not lay with the boxes where they are.
I can move them further back and in where it is darker if need be.

Thanks for the great nestbox info! I think, after much contemplation, that my shelters will have to serve as chick grow-out pens and broody houses. They are really only big enough for 3-4 full sized hens anyway. SO many great ideas here, maybe I can build a bigger, better coop. Great ideas!

@TJordan Any reported avian influenza cases near you? With the dead ducks I'd be a bit worried. I would not let them near the rest of my flock, and I'd be very wary about washing hands etc. Also, contacting the authorities and unloading those ducks ASAP might be a good idea...

I got it to a conservation expert this morning first thing and cleaned out the brooder, waterer and feeder with soap and hot water then sprayed it with disinfectant just to be safe. I kept it away from my flock and always wore gloves if I was touching it.

This was one of the cutest coops we researched. You made it really "pop" with color!

The chain fence is rather low. Are you aware how high chickens can hop and fly? Hope your neighbor doesn't mind finding your chickens in his yard lol! We had to tarp our chainlink because our girls were always wistfully looking into the neighbor's yard. We're finally going to get a block wall up!

Well... A big storm, a bunch of noise and wind... = my husband has to build a new coop. It is still standing but has a tree on top of it. we just had some massive stream line wind that sent me scrambling to get the kids safely in the hall under pillows and blankets and after the storm... A tree the size of my waist has been split in half crushing parts of my fence and the chicken yard. My poor chickens were so terrified all but 1 let me scoop them up and toss them into the coop after the storm. My dog is trapped under a bunch of branches and I can't help until my husband gets back with gas for the chainsaw. Just wanted to post.

Oh wow I'm glad that you guys are alright and I hope your dog is too!
