Ya lucky it's probably my luck if I wanted something to go the way I want or need it to go then it always seems to go the other way. But anyways so I posted those roosters up forsale my neighbors don't mind hearing them crow even though those 4 that I am selling haven't started crowing but I do have an older rooster.

I always kept at least three or it seems thats how the flock was organized. They would stand watch in a loose perimeter... The dominant or older rooster would be kept busy make sure the others minded their Ps and Qs. but All in all it was a peaceful arrangement.

If you want good laying EE's, order some chicks from Sandhill Preservation Center. They monitor the egg productions of all their breeds. They also have pure Americanas too.

No such thing as "pure Amer-I-canas" since hatcheries list their EEs as Americanas -- but there are "pure Amer-AU-canas." It's all in the spelling that differentiates the EE from the APA Ameraucana.

then there is the equallly confusing Araucana.....

No tails no beards but if you are lucky there will be cheek fluffs.... Hard to breed lay blue eggs... I had a pair once.

Ya I wouldn't mind that idea but when I hatch eggs wanting certain rooster to the hens cause I know what eggs are from what hen. But I can't keep an eye on the roosters that I don't want mating the hens when I am trying to hatch.

No cheek fluffs on USA APA Araucana. They have ear tufts. It is fatal if a chick gets 2 copies of the ear tuft gene.

And the irony there is that many breeders keep the 'tuffless' birds that are not considered Araucanas by APA or most club standards and thus deemed Easter Eggers, to breed back to tuffed ones to get higher hatch rates with no mortality...
