How did they ever get past the ancient water rights laws???? I'm sure glad people in CO can now capture the water that lands on their roof.

I'm not sure however they finally did. I would have to do some research however I think I'm now legally allowed to collect and keep up to 100 gallons.

On April 1, the Senate passed H.B. 1005 in a 27-6 vote. The bill permits Coloradans to use no more than two rain barrels collecting a maximum of 110 gallons of rainwater. Even though it was passed in April the law didn't take effect till this month.

Still about 100 years too late. But better late than never.

I got some more done today but I discovered a mistake that I plan to fix I left out a couple 2x6 top plates that are making the monitor short which I don't like where the bottom rafters hit so next time I work on it I will be jacking up the monitor I set on the other day and adding in those top plates to get me back on track I could leave it but it makes other work and having to add a spacer on top of the exposed beams. I am going to fix it now so I am not sorry later. I took a couple pictures of the progress but some of the work will be undone to fix the mistake luckily all the parts will fit right back after I raise it 1 1/2". I took a picture of the dummy beams in the back when all the siding is on it will look like it is all timber framed. I did not have any 4x6 beams long enough to span the 18' and they are very expensive so that is why it is done this way. Mike

My wife and I for years have been wanting to build a new house shaped like a barn and your frame work is the exact design we have always wanted. It will be cool to see it finished. I didn't even think about it when I started my coop, but with my carpenter skills or lack there of I wouldn't have been able to get it done. It has good pressure, and hold enough water for the chickens but I might add a few more tanks to hold more. The chickens have the grass all torn out

Well, my beatiful auranana rooster is stew or soup. I always try to touch him when im near and today he backed up, turned and stuck his head up high in the strike stance. When i tried to reasure him he made a mock strike. Thats all i need to know, hes done.

So far there seems to be less leakage and the birds are getting used to it.

I have a lot of difficulty posting pics from the app and the Web site with my phone. Anyone else experience this?

Well, my beatiful auranana rooster is stew or soup. I always try to touch him when im near and today he backed up, turned and stuck his head up high in the strike stance. When i tried to reasure him he made a mock strike. Thats all i need to know, hes done.

Something else that I note is that with the nipples on the side of the pipe rather than at the bottom there should be less chance of debris settling into the nipple and possibly jamming open one of them...also keeps the chickens from drinking that debris.

Your traps will probably work well.  Years ago in younger days I tackled a lot of DIY projects but seems like in my old age it's faster and easier to just get things purchased ready-made.  I used to enjoy DIY but these days I prefer to relax for a change.  Show us your project photos when done!!!

Yes, that is why i switched to my tablet. All android but every time they force an update stuff quits workimg. My phone would reformat the text screen over and over so i couldnt see what i was typing and if you dont wait til the editor is fully loaded it wont allow submission of pics. My tablet works much better. I tried Dolphin but their editor is even worse.

I have uninstalled my email app from my phone and now use my tablet exclusively. I have used chrome on occasion to view posts and it has a different editor. Since chrome and android are both google it makes sense. I just really, really really hate chrome because google refuses to add a toolbar. Drop down menues went out with ibm's personal editor and bill gates prevented the best browser from running on windows, effectively putting it out of business (netscape) so we are stuck with a microsoft chrome look alike or chrome.

Im just glad he couldnt take over the internet like he wanted.........

Only problem is the pipe has to be at least half full to get water to the nipples. You can let it go nearly dry with vertical nipples but you get more leakage. Im thinking of adding another vertical pipe for more storage. It actually works well as is. Im adding roughly half to one gallon less per day, or just over 2 gallons now per day where i was adding nearly 3 to 4 gallons per day, more on hot days.
