post your chicken coop pictures here!

This is our Coop that I built, I'm not a carpenter at all but I looked at hundreds of coops and kinda took the parts I liked from them and made my own. We have 10 laying hens and it is big enough for another 3 or 4. I have since added more ventilation since this picture.

Our primary predators are raccoon. We have a few foxes and coyotes and we occasionally see hawks flying by. We started our coop this spring and so we are novices but we are having a good time with it. We have a very good friend that has been raising chickens for years and he has been a great resource for us. We have been either lucky or good so far. We have had no attack attempts and have not lost any birds yet. Thanks for the advise.

We free range at times but have not had any hawk issues so far. The sun shade covers 90% of the run. There are 4 areas with about 12-18" of open space. If a hawk got in there I don't think it could fly out. As for the hardware cloth around the parameter of the run, we designed so the panels can be moved around in different configurations for fresh grass. While our run is not predator safe, our coop is. The girls are let out at around 8am and they are in and locked in the coop at dusk. We have 3 dogs and I am fairly certain that no harmful predators can get close to the run during daylight hours and I think a predator would have a difficult time getting in the coop. We have metal siding about 18" deep around the bottom of the coop. I appreciate the ideas and suggestions. If you have any others please share.

We have never had hawk or predators on our property until we have chickens. We have roof on half of our run and chicken wire on half w/ 3 feet gap in between and hawk swooped in and almost hurt some of my chickens even though the hawk couldn't get out, there still danger of predators doing what it does.

If anyone loves dogs and hummingbirds, this news video is a must see. We're on a hummingbird migration route so we feed them year-round. I've rescued a couple of them over the years but they were too far gone to survive but I brought them inside to die in peace -- other hummies are so territorial and brutal to one another and will throttle another injured hummie to death! This video is a happier story:

Anyone know offhand what breeds lay white eggs? I know i have 2 leghorns laying and maybe the buff orphingtons (one just laid a brown one). All the others are black and i think i know who is laying the green eggs. I only have 2 leghorns so didnt expect another white one.

My chipmunk fake auracana's are EE's and are both laying green eggs (number 3 is a rooster). Right now im getting 10 a day so still have 3 or 4 to start but didnt expect any more white ones.

Going from memory, i have 2 leghorns, 3 auracanas,2 austrolorps, 2 RR's, 2 black sex links, 2 buff orphingtons, my original 5 hens and 4 turkeys. One of the black ones died, not sure which breed it was. Only 2 of my old hens are still laying, not sure why but one was washed up already and bound for the freezer soon as i figure it out (one of the production reds i think). Im assuming molting but they dont look like it. The oldest one is only 3 or 4 years old.

Hmmm none of those should lay white except the leghorns so I'm not sure :/ maybe one of the sexlinks was mixed with something? There are lots of breeds that lay white eggs. Mostly the fancier flightier Mediterranean breeds but some others. Here's some hatchery pages. Maybe you'll find your bird.

Of course that's what they sell so might not be every single breed out there but should be the most common ones. Sorry, know it's not exactly off hand, had to Google, but yeah.

Mostly ancona, Andalusian, polish, leghorns (there's white, obviously, but also brown and one other variety), sumatra, fayoumi, etc.
