post your chicken coop pictures here!

I can't get over how nice all of these coops are. I really love fireguys style, Birdwalk farm - the larger coop has a great setup, Chris H can come build a house for me if he'd like, lol, and the artistic work of D3 are so inspiring! The cute little coops like mpare, aria and whittler have are sooooo cute! I would like to expand what I have so far...

I made my silkie coop out of wooden pallets, raised up on cinder blocks.

OSB board on the 40 x 52 pallet base, 40 x 52 for the sides, then used 4 mil plastic as a vapor barrier, then screwed 3/4 plywood from a wooden shipping crate over the pallets. Filled the inside of the pallets with hay for insulation, and used left over slats to fill in the missing pieces of the pallet on the inside.

I used another sheet of shipping crate for the roof, stapled 4 mil plastic on top & then shingled it.

And the proud owners, Cynder & Nonnie

It is not as pretty as some of the others, but it only cost $50.00 for all the extras I needed.

I like the idea that YOU can walk inside and THEY can walk underneath. Room to roam about safely. Very nice!

So, here is our first coop and run design:

Then I changed out the run for a pitched roof that I can walk under, tarped it to keep that area dry, and just added another section of run (which will be pitched also):

Each section is easy to move for fresh pasture. Just need to put my wheels on the coop and pitch the newest run addition. Of course with all of the ideas I see in here, we will be changing the coop fairly soon also.

This is the run, with the original coop in it. We started with 4 chickens. I actually thought I was only going to have that many

Then, of course, we got more chickens
So here is the first large coop we built:

Then, of course, more chickens, lol. This coop we decided to make out of used pallets we got free from the local feed store.
In progress:

And finished. Not a very pretty picture, but the only one I have:

You can't really see it, but both large coops have their own doorway into the run, with one door on the run wall, allowing them out into the yard. Most days, the girls freerange in the yard, but have access to the run as well.

Thanks Don!

We didn't start with a master plan or anything.........it just kind of came together.

And we have a rooster that you can't turn your back on. Sure is nice to be able to at least stand upright when you have to watch your back...
