We found it yesterday evening our first egg yay
Congrats! First eggs are the always the cutest little thangs.
Here the first eggs from my two oldest EE. They laid their first eggs on the same day.
frosthazard - how old are you EEs?
This thread is such an encouragement! Waiting on my 21 week old Barred Rocks and Buff Orpington ladies to get it together.
WooHoo! My 21 week old EE laid her first egg today after many days of practice and hours in the nesting boxes, she had an accident and laid it in the grass by the outside water pool! LOL! Silly girl! BUT I got a green egg!!!!
Ok, Hursthens - is your 21-week old EE can lay an egg, then surely my 21-week old EEs can lay an egg. I think I'll go read your post to them. They are in no hurry whatsoever! Even my New Hampshire Red - which is supposed to mature early - hasn't laid an egg yet.
From Phyllis, one of our two Barred Rocks.
so the first one was a double yolk, so much brighter and tastier than the one from the store on the left
Quote:They are 9 months old. They laid these at the beginning of the year, but I took pics. I had one of my EE pullets lay her first egg today though. It was about the color of the lighter one in the picture, she is 4 & 1.2 months old.
