lovely eggs everyone!

got our 1st Egg this past friday, Sept 16, 2011 from my now 21 week old RIR, Big Red!

Pullet egg!!
We got 3 eggs today instead of 2!

Nice eggs everyone! We got our first egg on Sunday! Our Barred Rock Chica layed it, she was 22 weeks and 4 days old. I think it's pretty big for her first one. It's a nice brown and has a bunch of white speckles.

We're so excited. Our barred rock mix laid her (and our) first egg ever at about 24 weeks. The other four pullets and cockerel ran to the coop door and started staring in and looking like they wanted to shout, "What the heck is going on in there?!?!" Even the cat and dog ran out of the house to find out why Tammy was singing. Me, I stood on the back porch laughing my butt off. She sounded so excited and proud of herself. I guess we finally know for sure she is a pullet. A couple of months back opinions were mixed, but most people thought she looked like a roo. Here's a pic of her back then (2nd from right) and her egg . . .

(the other egg is a wooden egg to show them what the nesting box is for. LOL)
