I have been waiting on my Black sex link who has had a bright red face to lay for 4 weeks now. I come home today and there it is. Big and Beautiful!!!! Turned out to be a double yoke. But after I found it my White Wyandotte did the "squat:" So who knows at this point who layed . I am going to try and catch them tomorrow and see if I cant figure it out.

left is store bought that easily broke the yoke when I cracked it., right is our first egg. Yokes are round little balls that hold their shape. Even the clear part is thicker and stronger!! I cant believe the difference between the two!!!! What a great experience to have with my 6 year old

Clearly not my first egg, but my first double yolker/Jumbo!! All the white's are from my Leghorns, and the brown is from my not-so-productive Jersey.. my Orps haven't started laying yet, but my Orp/Maran cross should start any day

She's Beautiful! As is the egg! I have two 8 week old pullets a wheatan and a blue wheatan....I am sooooooo impatiently awaiting that stunning blue egg!

My blue wheaten ameraucana, named Honey, recently layed her first pretty blue egg then sat and admired her work long enough for me to take a picture. It weighed 2 ounces and turned out to be a double yolker! So much fun!

Great example! O love my girls eggs over store bought. Color is so rich and the thickness, while takes a bit more time to whip, are so my filler in baking recipes.

Found our first TWO eggs today from our EE, Cherrie! At first, I wondered how she did it, but now, I figure I must've just missed the FIRST one, yesterday. No wonder she's been so noisy, lately!

I was so proud the day I got my first egg. It was so exciting. I didnt even want to eat it, so I saved it until I got a whole dozen.
